Anyone know where I could find the Panamint Crossing route?

Unread postby Tuddley3 » Sun Apr 13, 2014 3:27 pm

I found this by accident searching the File Library here in the scenarios section, but I can't find the route. I have located the download site from the creator James Knauer, but none of his download links work.

You were very close! This route, which apparently remains incomplete, is Donation Ware. Try this URL: http://panamintcrossing.blogspot.com/p/files.html

That's what I tried, and the download links are broken.

It's a shame, it looks really nice and he put so much work into it, I hate to see it go to waste.

In the few years I've been here at RWA, I have seen more than a few routes like this just kinda drop off the grid. Some come back after a while, some never do. Unless the original creator pops in and says what's going on, it's really no use to just speculate. Some creators hit a brick wall (parts of the route just disappear, route not coming out right, real life gets in the way) and just decide it's not worth it. A crash can wipe out a year or more of work, if there's no backup. And then (no offense to anyone here, OK?) there's the "gimme" syndrome.

Tori is an example of someone who just "dropped off the grid" all of a sudden. A lot of us were concerned, and when she finally did return, we all breathed a collective sigh of relief. Be patient. The author of this route may check in. !!det!!

This is the reason I keep a separate file tucked away on an external drive for all of my railworks downloads. Just in case something happens, I can go to that file and reinstall any rolling stock, route or scenario I might lose.

My most sincere apologies for the state of this route. Real life fell on me like a ton of bricks and I had no choice but to set it aside. I would very much like to return to it, especially since DTG wants to go the Unreal Engine route, though that won't be for a while. What remains is the detail decoration, as the route is laid out, along with more custom models. Finding time to work on it has been a premium. Thanks to the posters above for your kind remarks, you make me want to finish it! If there is continued interest, I will try. What really slows me down is the terrain painting. I'm quite particular about it, and the editor tools are not ideal.

I'm downloading it now, and I must say it looks amazing! The rock detail is like nothing I've seen before in this game.

Got a chance to run this some more out of Summit and Panamint Springs.....man this thing is B-I-G!!!
Yes...Please finish it. Given the screen shots posted here and in other threads, you have done much since the beta used for download. You should consider releasing another Beta so we can gauge the progress.....
BTW, all artists feel that way about their work....don't fret it the slow progress....
