Developer Source and Asset files

Unread postby davedingler » Sat Apr 12, 2014 9:11 am

Hey all,

When setting up a route the first time, RWTools has a neat program to generate the folders required. My question is "Why do you need to have the files both in Source Folder and Assets folder?"

My next question is: "Should the both sets of folders contain the same the same files?"

The source folder is used by developers to store their blueprints. If you are not developing addons with the Blueprint Editor, you don't need the source folder.

No. Although the source folder structure mirrors the asset folder structure, they contain different file types.

Thanks Mr. Campbell,

Brings up another question. What would be the folder structure and file types in each of the required folders? Or is this an automatic operation performed by the program as you build your route?

Note: I've had a mishap and am trying to rebuild my Developer Source and Asset files from various backup folders.

Thanks,

Dave

You can safely ignore the Source folder.

The Asset folder needs to be rebuilt as it was before the mishap. Normally the Asset folder is populated as you add new routes, purchase dlc, download addon packages, and subscribe to marketplace etc. You may be able to recreate it from your backups, otherwise you will have to download and reinstall the content from their original sources.
