Problem joining track types

Hey All,
I'm not sure it this is the right forum for this question. If not, Admin, please move it.

I've been using Scale Rail track system for my route and have had problems connecting main line tracks to yard tracks. It takes a lot of fiddling around to get the tracks to join with out a track end bumper at the end of the joint. I've had a little luck by branching from the mainline with a mainline track and then joining a yard track and then changing the elevation of the end of yard track at some point to meet the terrain, then filling the gap between track and terrain with track ballast.

Is there a standard way of doing this operation? I think that I'm missing something in this procedure.

Thanks,

Dave

You can not make a switch with 2 different track types. Coming from the main line, you make the switch with mainline. Then cut it short as possible, then change to yard or whatever type and it should add right on as long as you are not using two different track rules. Before I lay any track I always make sure my track rules is selected. I have found sometime it changes back to default for some reason and tracks start doing crazy things.

Also make sure you use the weld tool to create your switches and joints.

Another method I have used with much success is to make your turn-out with the mainline track and then use a short section of spur track and finally transition to the yard track. To me it give a nice look. After doing that, you can use the "gradient smooth" tool and then "snap" the terrain to it. It turns out nice for me.
