North America Railway

Discussion about RailWorks route design.

I wouldn't try that with a skyscraper though because it would overwhelm Railworks.

I might try it with a smaller building though if I ever can figure out how to make the transparent appear as see through in Railworks.

You can still make the windows shine at night as if there were a light inside, by following that example model and textures I sent you.

At the moment I'm working on the two models of these.

By the way, here's how the first model is coming out, this one is the far left one from the reference photo.

I'm building it in only 3D Crafter Pro and push and pull the faces from the top down to get the shape correct, I think it looks good so far. It will look even better on your route though.

I bet it will !!*ok*!! Good job!

Redoing the parking lot for Walmart...The correct way. The first parking lot had ticket booth and surely didn't make any sense so I decided to do something better and its coming out great! !!*ok*!!

You will see it, when I add more pictures on this forums when papaexpress completes the street arch lights I needed. Everything else is in place, working tomorrow for Apartment complex. Then later I will do a sneak peak on my route from Night to day then to night on youtube. idk how long that will be but thats going to take alot of my HD space, but I should have plenty. Make a fast forward speed on sony vegas. Somehow.

Also I hope to see the streets winding throughout the city with traffic jams as well if possible.

In the city, the city is a very busy place and tightly packed place.

Like trying to get through New York City traffic in a car during rush hour, impossible.

I would suggest using fewer of these apartments and using some of my newer ones. I know for a fact that these older ones were't as good on polygon level as my newer ones are now because I wasn't as experienced then. The newer ones will be much better on frame rates here and won't cause as much of a problem as a bunch of these.

Also, wouldn't have seen as many buildings like these in one area, might have seen at least one and that probably would have been the most of them because a design like this was a very rare design, with the pillars on the walls.

HAHA I just checked it out. I made it look like castle walls !*roll-laugh*! !*roll-laugh*!

I took the older ones down. Never liked it. hmm...should I reduce it? I think I made to many. The brick ones doesn't seems to fit in. I was thinking something different.

I do believe you should take a lot of those down. At that level of that number of that specific building it will cause problems. Truly, I've thought strongly about replacing that model all together with a new model.

That's of course why I never made a model again in that amount of 3d because of what I found out about how that amount of detail can effect the sim performance.

Actually, the way the land looks the buildings don't look right at all, I think it would look better to place a couple city blocks of houses there, then it will look like a real place I've seen before. The way it looks at the moment to me, doesn't even convince me of anything I've ever seen before.

Truly, I have to say that that was one of the worst city buildings I ever built and should have never been released actually.

Yea I thought it would be nice but that....was a bit to much. Now moving on, When you said about House blocks, I did that once from RCAP. Terrible block. Its just to plain, no driveways I had to work that out. I got a better Idea.

These first 2 pictures in from Florida. The bottom one was my house years ago before I moved to Georgia. (very nice on the inside) And the top one is the location where I lived. Something like this? or something else you had in mind? Cause I can do this one one house next to each other with driveways of course.

There is a reason why we did not include driveways. They cannot be seen from the cab. Say on my route which includes a TON of residential within view of track. If had to put down road and sidewalks, and swimming pools.... it would add unneeded years and asset (count) to the project.

Remember that EA just came out with a new version of Sim City if you are interested in that sort of thing *!!wink!!*

that's true, you would only notice the ones that are right beside the tracks which is more practical to be put in manually. along with sidewalks and other scenery items.
