Anyone can do track - I can do it if markers are in place or a general idea of what's needed. I don't wish to step on any toes, however, so if track is already taken care of, I would be happy to donate some structures if necessary (I actually prefer the latter, as I can whip the models out fairly quickly and the route builder can then place where needed).
Cheers!

A thematic thought... let's keep the R&WA a friendly, helpful small town feel kind of place like RWA is!

Not that I don't like huge industries, but I think those are covered by Rich's Ohio Steel and others. Something on the scale/size of Portland Terminal feels right to me.

My 2 cents.

Since my RW developer skills are as of yet fairly non-existent... I will be happy to do testing! :-D

Thanks,
Don

Hi,

OK, the terrain is complete and on its way to the first route builder. For those who want to look it up on a map, it follows the PRR roughly from Freeport to halfways between Pittsburgh and Washington (Pandhandle Div.) and the P&LE from McKessport to about Coraopolis. The "width" of the terrain each side of the river is 5 tiles, so there are places where you will see some "jaggy" horizons, but that only happens in "helicopter mode". In-cab there is ALWAYS some mountain hiding the actual edge of the demed terrain.

The route comes set up with its own assets folder -- RailWorksAmerica > RWARoute. It already includes a terrain texturing BP (all US/EUR default paints WITH snow) and my 4-season timeofday BPs from the Big Horn route. Please feel free to use this assets folder to add your own objects if you wish to.

BTW, the route's start point (origin) is the exact location of Pittsburgh Penn Station. :D

OK, that's about it I guess.
Two screenshots are below.

Image
Pittsburgh's "Golden Triangle" ... a lot of flat terrain around the three rivers.

And for those who like a real challenge, a LOT of these.

Cheers,
Michael

IMHO, until most or all of the issues are resolved in RW3, editing should be done in legacy mode (TSX off).

idk what the problem in editing mode everybody is having in TSX mode, it works perfict for me! other than the standard SBHH that i know was comming. (you know when you make a larger yard and one of the tracks will cause a SBHH error for an unkonwn reason.)

I think this should be a personal preference. Yea, I get the dreaded SBHH when in TSX, but its not any more often than back in RW2.

Just remember the three cardinal rules: Backup, Backup, and Backup

Good suggestion and thats what I have been doing, because mainly the blue fog is not there when TSX is off and I can see further.

Wow this is comming along fast! I would say that about 1/2 of my sections track is layed and the rest should be easy from here on in! the only part i am dreading is detailing my small city, and getting my freight yard done. I think tomorrow i will post 2 or 3 screenshots of my little section; it could help the next person plan ahead on what they wish to do.

do we have an official "line up" yet for the builders? If we do, I must have missed it, if not, it would probably be good to plan out when each of us is gonna have our go.

not as far as i know, but i am shure if you ask you could be next, since GN asked for a fourm reply for the first bulder.

oh yes, some early WIP pics. (note that i have only worked on my section for about 3 hours so its a bit rough)

these pics will show that i left lots of options to let the next person not to be forced into bulding in a certan way on their section.

lookin good! Though that trestle at the docks and the containers/container ships seem to cross decade boundaries a little bit , but just thought I'd mention it in case you were looking for a more modern bridge, the NRD lofted bridges oughta be in there(at least I'd think they would be, if not, I'm sure everyone would agree that they should be)....either way it looks good so far!

I'll wait till the route gets a little more out in the country, if it gets out there.
