Work on this project is still rolling on. I am having a bit of a slowdown due the softening of the rivers edge to give it a more realistic look. Since the river on this route follows the track for all the 90 miles, I have just as much river work as I do track work!

I'm still trying to figure out how to make fine tune adjustments on these river decals. The elevation of the river is going up so I have to raise one end of the decal and have the decal adjusted to an angle. Getting that angle just right seems to be a real trick.

All in all I'm enjoying working on this route and the results I've gotten so far.

I was wondering if anybody knows where I can get a small turntable? The turntable that comes default with the Horseshoe Curve Route is a bit to big for what I need it for. I'll need just a turntable...no roundhouse.

The shore looks pretty sweet there. Remember this is a Train Sim not a rafting sim. My first time scenicing a route I spent way too much time on inconsequential stuff.

Since the track is close to the river along the whole route I want the river to look good. I want to take out those nasty lookin' jagged edges.
I'm about a fourth of the way done on the track work. I'm currently working in the Tunkhannock area. I have the river done up to the Falls area. I switch back and forth between track laying and river decal laying.

Thanks. As I'm continuing to work on this project, It looks like there will be plenty of scenic areas along this route. It will be interesting to fill in all the details when the time comes. I'll post more screenshots sometime this weekend.

I reach the first 20 miles of the track and river work. I've reached the area of Tunkhannock, PA. The picture below show the track work as it looked in the late 1960's. Located at this location was a turn table. I assume it was used for trains on the Montrose Branch. The start of the Montrose Branch is to the far left. This branch will be added as an update when the main line is finished. One other this I that I would like to note...I just realized that if you are note sure of the elevation of your track work, just go into Google Earth and set the default measurement to meters. Then just hover over the existing track. Then get the elevation at the bottom of Google Earth screen. This is a big help when laying track.

Here are some other screenshots of the first 20 miles. The next picture shows the entrance to Tunkhannock as the main line passes over the Tunkhannock Creek...the bridge is not is place yet.

Today I reached the Vosburg Tunnel. This is around 3 to 4 miles north of Tunkhannock PA. The tunnel is at its actual length and grade. Getting the tunnel portals and the tunnel dig holes to match up are a nice challenge. The default tunnels for HSC route leave no room for error.
Here is the south portal.

As I move along with the track work I see that the main line crosses over many medium to small sized creeks. What is the best method to date for building small creeks?

Sometimes it seems hard to get questions answered around here. I assume it's because not many people are here or people just don't know the answers.
Never the less here is a picture of the north portal of the Vosburg Tunnel.

Next area to see track work being done is the Mehoopany and Meshoppen areas.

You're absolutely right, this is quite useful. In addition, if you're working on a route without a grade profile, or fog chart, you can trace out a 'path' in Google Earth along the right of way and use that to generate a grade profile.

I recently came up with a new "super" project idea. More info on that at another time. So what I thought I'd do with the Snake Path Route is to offer it to somebody that may want to work on it. The first 30 miles of track is down plus there is a heck of a rail yard to mess around on. All you'll need to continue to working on the route is the Horseshoe Curve Route and the RCAP2 pack. I'll even throw in the height files if they are needed. PM me if interested.
