Here's some old pictures of what the route is really based off, what the real engineers would of had to face when crossing a route very much like this route for RW.

If you know of any other cliffside track pictures post them up and I might be able to use them as reference to how I build some of the route. Once out of the desert part of the route the track will run past tree land very much like these.

Some of the cliffside tracks would have really been hundreds of feet in the air on the edge of a mountain.

As well, I've uploaded a preview video of the route here. http://railworksamerica.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=42&t=5350

Now if I could find some dried grass like substance to surround the cacti with and not have it look like it's floating in the air.

The first rickety old bridge for the route.

So far I have 6.55 miles made on the route.

I'm thinking that I might add another bridge, one running over a waterfall and connecting to a small desert river.

Also I will attempt to build a locomotive with a little more tractive power for climbing and remaining at a better speed. So far the 2,8,0 and climbing as a double header can do top speed of 17 miles per hour through the mountains. And once finished there will be around 120 miles of track, so it's a slow go through the mountains with this engine.

Peter, you are a pretty sadic man! *!twisted!* please stop with this! Do you think we can wait you finish 120 miles of your dream route to send it to us? *!embar*! At my side I need only 17 miles as first stage. !*drool*! And then, steamming at 17mph, I'm absolutely sure I'll have an hour of pure dreaming and driving at same time that will make my year! Can't wait, I really can NOT! !*brav*! **!!bow!!**

I might release a beta at my website once I complete about 20 miles, if it will still be small enough to fit.

Of course, this isn't my dream route, it's just what I would call a practice route. Later I will be building a route from 1935 that will host all of my big city buildings, 30's vehicles and the old houses. It will be mostly a city route though so will most likely not have much of any mountains or cliffs, just hills and 5 to 6 track mainlines. It will also come with large train yards and large train stations.

Usually, Hawk doesn't like to host beta's here.

Also, for the route I'm going to build a complete town that would have been under construction at that time with houses being built and worker tents lying around as well as building tents that would have been used for daily life while the houses and buildings were being built.

A little more progress on the route.

Not much water in the desert in which used to be a large river a long time ago.
Rattlesnake Ridge 21.jpg

The small village where you start out from is placed a little while away from the last bit of water around for a long ways. If this was to disappear the village would have to leave the spot.

Very little rain falls in the area all year long. The area could go without a single drop of rain for weeks and even months.

More work on the pass. This pass is the biggest one in all of the route.
