Yea, hopefully it will work again soon, I REALLY want to get the grass in my route so I can start laying tracks and paint stuff.

Follow the instructions/help with ReDem for downloading and installing terrain. The interface at USGS Seamless Server has been updated but can still be easily followed with the thorough ReDem instructions. I don't think you need a ReDem license to read the help. As for terrain data availability, there is a map on the new Server that shows what resolution is available for what areas. SRTM data is less detailed than NED 1/3 which is less detailed than NED 1/9. Availability decreases in that same order.

The easiest way to get your initial terrain textures working is to point to one of the game's default texture sets. In your route's "RouteProperties.xml" file, edit the terrain textures entry to use Kuju, RailSimulator, Environment\Terrain\Texturing.xml or Kuju, RailSimulatorUS, Environment\Terrain\Texturing.xml or Kuju, RailSimulatorUS, Environment\Terrain\CR_Texturing.xml . The first option uses the European texture set, the second and third both use the US Texture set, but each includes a different palette.

Follow the instructions in the Creator manual that comes with RW2. Basically involves getting SRTM terrain data (.hgt files) from a govt. website, placing that in a specific folder, then using the 'T' key. Pretty straightforward.

There are other threads in this forum with more detail, and others at trainsim.com.
[sorry, didn't see those other answers till too late]
