In my opinion that would depend on the track speed of the route. At 30mph a 12 mile long route is ~24 minutes of running time (plus time to accelerate/decelerate from track speed). At 20mph, that same route length is 36 minutes of running time. The average users appetite for a scenario is around 45 minutes of playing time.

The line is 25mph. I think thats fast enough for a Branch line. When the train behind my house was active the branch line was only 15mph and that branch line is 17 miles. Cause Pan Am didn't want to fix their tracks. But thank you for pointing that to me about run times on scenario's. I will make the line about 20 miles and add in a lot of switching and other stuff. Again thanks for the Advice. *!!thnx!!* !*cheers*!

What matters is what is in the 12 miles. 50 miles of straight single track, no sidings or spurs would not match 5 miles of track with multiple sidings/spurs generating traffic and thus interest.
Someone said it’s not the length that matters it’s what you do with it.

Well said. As as right now its not just a straight track. I have sidings and Spurs going into industrial's.

Wow! Phenomenal work so far! This route has inspired me to begin my fictional urban switching line. Keep up the good work! **!!bow!!** *!!wink!!*

By the way, do you or any other builders have tips with scenery? That is my weak spot.

One problem that I have is I make scenery density too bland and uninteresting, such as making things look run down, track weeds, etc,... all the tiny details. Any yard I seem to make looks unrealistically spotless. !*don-know!*

Another issue is how far to extend scenery, how far should one go before decreasing the amount of scenery and then reaching the "barren wasteland" of the rest of the generated world.

*!!thnx!!*

1st thing with the density being to bland, some places of a route might look run down or "Abandon" its normal. 2nd as yards go as you may may know must yards are not spotless, unless they were just put in. To make a yard look like a real yard if you have to just look on the web and look at different yards and just build one like it, but make it so it's your Design buy putting different things in there. And the last thing about how for to go out with Scenery, well that depends on your route your making. If it is just a flat route with no terrain imported then go out about 1/2 mile out on both sides of the track. Pretty much look at it this way. When you are inside of the loco and look out the window driving down the tracks you don't want to see Bare Spots. Extra tip, If you are going to use lots of tree's use the both of the "Asset Blocks" they will help a big way and take less FPS. !!*ok*!! If you need more help just ask

Question for everyone..

I did not know that till last night that the BL&E was no longer on steam. I used the big Steel plant buildings from the BL&E. So what do you guys think, keep it in there or replace it? !*don-know!* Just want people to enjoy the route. Thanks everyone.

I think leave it in. I suspect that reading between the lines of posts on the BL&E's removal a version will be available in the future. Being outside of the US I cannot get Marias Pass or Stevens Pass and I missed out on Portland Terminal (which re-emerged as Maine Maritime) - you just have to live with it or work around it. BL&E will be the same for a time. Keep up the excellent work.
