There is a simple explanation as to why Dave's grade crossing appears that way. You can't rotate a hwy surface (longitudinally) to match the grade of the tracks. It's simply not something that can be done, like tilting plants or buildings etc.
The road surface will follow a grade, but if the grade of terrain or tracks are perpendicular to the direction of the road, you will have one side higher (or lower) no matter what a person does. The exception is roadway over terrain, a person can then snap to terrain or snap to roadway. When track is involved it gets way more complicated.
If you have multiple lofts crossing each other of any kind, it gets way more complicated.
Another way to put it, is we can't put in an off camber roadway. The editor just won't do it.
