ReDem HELP

Unread postby emdsd90mac » Sat Nov 06, 2010 6:02 pm

Hello all. I am new to route creation and would like to know if someone can help me out with ReDem and SERZ. I would like to quickly create a land form so I can start laying tracks and placing scenery. If I am way off on this topic, please let me know. Thank you.

Hope this is what you need. ReDem requires you to set the serz location. It is located in you Railworks main folder.

This is where mine is located
C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\railworks

Happy route building.

I am going to lose my mind on this. Ok, here's the deal. I am using the ReDem help manual to do a step-by-step upload of a .bil file downloaded from the usgs.seamless.gov site. When I get to step 3 in the instructions it asks about loading markers. What is this and what does it mean? I looked all over the steam directory and I cannot find it. Help me Obe Won, you're my only hope.

I may be wrong but it looks like you did not load a set of route markers properly.

I know you can use google earth to set up your route markers, but I like to use toporoute.com. There is a excellent tutorial on using toporoute here http://www.trainsim.com/kdl.php?fid=22954 . The file is rte_tut.zip located at Trainsim.com.

After you load the marker files, the boxes in step 2 will be filled in for you. Also the boxes under suggested dim bounds will be filled in. Take the results of the suggested DEM and enter them into the USGS web site and download the .bil file, be sure to follow the steps in the addendum very closely. After that when you hit the load button under 4-DEM you will be asked for the .bil file. After you have loaded that then hit the create button and all will be downloaded to your source folder.

Warning, be sure to read everything very carefully as one missed step will cause you problems.

Hopr you get it.

I think you might have to start over to get the developer folders setup properly.
You might look into getting Mike Simpsons RWTools at http://www.rstools.info/. You can get a licensed copy for a small donation. The program is almost a necessity to have.
He has a good tutorial on setting the developer folder and route template.
There are also tutorials on most of the forums.
Good Luck
