GPS Markers on ficiticous route

Unread postby artimrj » Fri Oct 22, 2010 3:21 pm

After getting the new RW2 update, I went to make new scenario in the route I am working on and the Starting origin has a drop down list of places to start the scenario. Mine is listing places from the CSX mainline route. After some reading it appears I need my own marker list. The Wike references Google Earth KML files, but my route is ficticious. So I beleive I need to make GPS Markers. Can anyonehelp me with this? Do I need to jot down coordinates and make a CSV file of them in Excel then use the Blueprint editor to create one? I was just n the blueprint editor and was totally lost, allthough I did see and option for creating GPSMarkers. Any help would be appreciated.

ALso I play on Michael Stephans IIR route, his route lists Larkspur, Monument and Castle Rock for starting places of a new scenario. I guess he needs to make one for it also?

OK I succesfully made a set of markers for my route by using RW_Tools' function to create markers from the route. I copied and pasted the coordinates and gave each one a name. RW_Tools compiled the files and put them in Kuju/RailsimulatorUS/Routemarkers. Now when I go to make a new scenario my names are listed for the starting points for the scenrio to start at. However, the markers for the CSX Mainline by TDwolf were listed with them. I editted my routeproperties.xml, my route template file and my marker file with my asset folder names and move the templae and marker files to my asset structure. So now the only place my stuff is, is in my assets. Now when I create a new scenario only my markers show up, but when I go to the editor and pull the gPS down, the CSX Mainline markers are listed first and mine are underneath of it.

Now what is strange is the Castle Rock and San Bardino markers are in the Kuju/RailsimulatorUS/routemarkers folder too, but only the CSX ones are showing up. But in Michael Stephan's IIR route, the Castle Rock ones are showing up as he did not make any for this route. A fellow route maker, Richard S just made the markers for his Montour route and the CSX Line markers are also showing up for him, with his beneath the CSX ones.

Neither of us can figure out where they are being called from and it is making me nutz.

In my routeproperties.xml, the Kuju/RailsimulatorUS structure was the first listing under the blueprints preload section and I was thinking it might work like the texturing file where the first entry is the default terrain color, so I put my asset folder first but it did not work either.

In case any has this problem again. I found a cure. I took the US CSX.bin and dcsv files out of Kuju/RailsimulatorUS/routemarkers folder and made a new folder in Assets called CSX/Routes/Routemarkers and put them there. Then opened up the CSX Mainline route and used the browser filter to add them back to it in their new location. Ottodad owned up to doing this for Thomas Bontempo. So I guess the rule of thumb is dont put your stuff in the Kuju folders, keep them in their own asset structure where they wont interfere with the default stuff and anything else. I posted this at ts.com and maybe it will get Thomas to issue patch as it is quite simple to fix. If he doesnt I will ask him if I can issue apatch for it. I like the CSX Mainline route and his P&LE route very much.
