Turntable not showing

Unread postby Mickey » Wed Feb 13, 2013 8:44 pm

Anyone else have trouble getting RHams "Old Manual Turntable" to show up on the (left side) scenery items pick list? I've reinstalled it twice and I know its in RHams Asset files but I cannot see it in the World Editor for use on a route. I do have a "Blueprint.pak" that shows up back in his files. I have deleted it of course with no help. I also loaded an engine on the track as described in his instructions with no help. ??? Any help would be appreciated.

The is a problem with any turntables that after editing a scenario, the do not show up until you have actually selected the turntable and have it rotate.

The following is an excerpt from the turntable read me file:

A note on disappearing turntables:

With the advent of RW3, turntables (and manual switch stands) can disappear after saving an edit to the scenario. This affects both 3rd party addons and default items. The turntables are still there, but do not become visible until called on by the simulator. Once called on, they remain visible for any subsequent restarts of the scenario, until the scenario is edited again. To work around this (if it is a problem to you), when editing the scenario, add a locomotive and driver to a track approaching the turntable (making note of the service name); save the scenario; select the locomotive and press g (or shift g) to align the turntable with the active track. The turntable is now visible and will remain so. If you do not want to leave the engine and driver at that position in your scenario, exit TrainSimulator 2012, and edit the scenario using RW_Tools to delete the added locomotive, save the changes to the scenario, and then also use the delete empty consist button for the scenario. The scenario should then be usable per your original intention and the turntable will be visible.

Thank You for the information regarding having the installed turntable show up. BUT my problem is that it does not show in the FLYOUT (2nd one down on left side) while in the editor so that I can install it on my route. The instructions said I should look for: "Turntable manual Old" - It's just not there.

I have a question about this solution. Is there a step missing? Once the loco & driver have been placed and the scenario saved, there's no mention of playing the scenario, although that would be the next logical step, since the loco cannot be selected and the turntable aligned within the editor. However, once the scenario is in play mode, the loco can only be selected if the scenario is a free-roam or if the loco in question is the player engine of a standard scenario, in which case aligning the turntable will only change its alignment for that iteration of the scenario, not permanently for that scenario. Am I correct?
