Speed limits and signal placements

You could try making contact with people who work for the route you're modelling via Facebook. I found a bunch of guys who work for and around my route, even a photographer, and they've provided me with loads of info about the prototype. I guess if someone came to me and said "Hey I'm modelling your workplace in a simulator" I'd be keen to show off my knowledge and authority on the subject.

I would recommend getting the track charts for route you are building. In my case they showed blocks in quarter mile sections, so it was not hard to guess where signals and speed changes happened.
