Route building blunder

Unread postby RAILSOHIO » Sat Mar 16, 2024 4:00 pm

So I have decided to get serious about the Ohio route I have been working on since 2010. I decided to clean up the route and streamline the number of providers by unchecking the ones I am not using. Besides helping the idea that will not have to look through so many assets in the process. Also,as an FYI,I purchased a new gaming PC about a year ago. I cloned the whole installation, and installed it on an external SSD. So my older computer does have the non updated version of my route. What has happened is that I lost all of the track after unchecking many providers. So I went back through and enabled EVERYTHING. No luck. So when you unload a set of blueprints,is it actually erased? No I did not create restore points on the SSD. Is there an alternative to overwriting the new one with the old? I used mostly Scale Rail track, and a variety of track rules. And there is no place on the whole route where any track shows. I hope there is a good fix for this. Joe

My first question is have you looked in the route (new) xml to make sure that the 3D stuff is there?

So I never unchecked the 3DTS. But I still reviewed all providers on my running through and rechecking them all. Also I decided I really want to use the High Line track,as it has embankments built in. So I had placed a few miles of that track. And it is gone. Makes me think it is a track rule. But as I said, multiple TR's are used, and nothing shows.

Buzz with the exception of reskinning, and the initial set up of the folder structure, back in 2011,I am have little experience with the file structure/hierarchy. Are we talking under Content/Routes ? I was not ignoring you, sorry it came across that way.

In content routes your route whatever its number is there is a file called RouteProperties.xml. In there it lists all of the providers assigned to the route. Are the proper 3D track files all listed there?

So I have kept the new gaming PC as pristine as possible. I have not even installed TS tools on it. I opened TS Tools on the old PC and found and opened the file. So I know what you mean now. However there is good news. I have two SSD's,and one of them still has the route updates from a few weeks ago. So I will no long have to "fix"the latest one. When I get a chance I will see if I can find the problem on the installation on the other drive. I consider this problem solved, at this point. Thanks for your help!
