Nearly three years ago I conceived the idea of a fictional railroad stretching across Northern California from Bodega (Palm) Bay, CA to Salt Lake City while I had a machine that could run MSTS. Originally called Western American Railway, it told the tale of a shortline interurban electric railroad rising into a sleeping giant by the mid 1990's.
After my laptop died in March, I resolved to scrap the MSTS plan, and move to TS2015. I began working on the route back in September, starting from the fictional city of Palm Bay, and working around the yards, engine maintenance facility, and the Palm Bay Railway Museum trackage. After a few short stints, I decided to say the h*** with playing around in sidings, yards and scenery...and get my a** into building the mainline first to Petaluma, and then back track.
Here's a few shots.
The South End of Shoreside Yard, about 2000' behind the camera is where the old ferry dock was located. The was some limited ferry service between San Francisco and Palm Bay from around 1910 to about 1950, when electric operations ended. The extent of electric operations was from Palm Bay to Winters (interchange with subsidiary California Northwestern, but more on that another day).
Today, Shoreside Yard doubles as an small Automobile loading facility and intermodal yard.

Westshore Yard and Palm Bay Railroad Diesel Facility. Those two tracks in the foreground middle are MOW and storage.

Westside Yard. Not much of a yard, since most of the traffic is local traffic. Another track will be added to allow more room for train make-up.
More to come.
