Grading track

Hello,

I have a question for the track laying experts out there....When you lay track with a grade, which is best to do first:

1. Shape the terrain so that it slopes at the grade that you desire and then lay the track.
2. Lay the track at the grade you desire and then snap the terrain to the track.

Well, if It's a real world route, then set up the terrain with DEM, then lay the track on the correct gradients, then adjust the ground to the track.

There are some posts in another active thread here about this very topic but I can't find them at the moment.
