There are certainly parts where love and attention have been lavished on it, the new Reading station captures the prototype with the deck above the platforms, albeit slight lack of people compared to the real thing. Just a shame the artistic talent hasn't been equalled by those responsible for sounds and physics.

3D assets can easily be commissioned from experienced creators.

Physics, sounds, emitters, scripting etc not, that has to be done by programmers.

It seems with TSW:GRE still more scripts were introduced, meaning even more can go wrong with priorities, hierarchy, timing, interactions, pausing, saving and resuming etc. No to mention CPU capacity to run them all concurrently ...

The sounds may not be perfect but I have no problem with them.

As a real world driver of General Motors and General Electric equipment I feel the sounds have been done well. I just don't understand what the fuss is about. And I thought I was a perfectionist. (Maybe I am missing something)

So maybe I am not a perfectionist after all. By the way I do have good hearing.

I've already mentioned the Class 166 issue earlier. And the Class 66 horn stops working after one or two presses. I would say outside the graphic glitching issue (I did take a screenshot but can't find where TSW put it) the sounds are where some attention needs to be directed.

There is potential in this product, but before the route is extended or additional locos and trainsets added, the core needs to be addressed.

Mate there's no way you run these things if you say their sounds are done well. It's laughable.

There are hints of sounds mixed in that are correct, but overall, the GP38 and SD40 are mediocre, and the AC4400 sounds nothing like a real GE unit. And none of the horns are correct.

One would assume that changing the sound samples wouldn't be that much of a problem, once one has found out where they are located.
I'll try to unpack the assets and see what's inside.

I've done it but every update to the game eradicates it.

Just by reading this it sounds to me like they are trying their best to make this game completely 3rd party proof. Unless you go directly through them you won't be able to do anything extra. Unless you go through DTG it will never work with TSW. Sounds like another sim group I got away from early on.

Without the promised editors we don't know yet. !*don-know!*
Usually, games designed for XBox and other consoles are always tamper proof to give every player the same experience and chances and to keep troubleshooting to a minimum.

I think opening up TSW to create your own trains and scenarios/services is the first logical step. World creation using existing pre-built objects perhaps next.
When you open up the game you can see there is already a structure set with that facilitates integration of DLC.
No doubt DTG's preferred third parties are eagerly waiting to get their share of the action and revenues.

And if it's done well and at a reasonable price, then I'll be happy to support it - like the better add-ons for TS20xx. However first they must take the humility pill, as I said previously and fix the issues which are manifesting across both versions of the product - the lousy unpredictable physics (ditch Simugraph???) and the sound where basically they need to sack the existing team and sub-contract out to Armstrong Powerhouse.

Likewise! I made myself a solemn promise not to buy any DLC until the core game is solid and without issues and the major bugs eradicated. I'll probably buy the pre-release of (electrified?) German content when the price is tempting, but thats about all for this year. I certainly won't support botched DLC building upon a weak foundation and vague promises of fixing it in the future. Steam Refund is a godsend here.

I don't know much about UE4, or wether the Simugraph component is required for any physics implementation. No doubt, a unified building block approach makes development easier.
A major next hurdle would be steam locomotives, as the characteristics of external combustion and expanding superheated steam propulsion are probably way out of line for Simugraph.

Sounds are entirely another matter, there is really no excuse NOT to use good quality samples. The game does sound better when played through my Logitech Cinema Z external USB speaker setup, my desk rattles when played louder than the average monitor speakers allow.

Possibly it's the traction sounds in GWE which are the focus here. the Class 66 sounds thin compared to the real thing even in external view. In fact it sounds more like a watered down Class 60 (non-GM) at times. The Class 166 Thames Turbo is a complete joke. There should be a lovely melodious underfloor burble from the Perkins diesel engine which should still be slightly audible in the cab. The HST is okay(ish) but the problem I had there is the sounds actually starting to drop in and out.

Really?

The AC4400 sounds pretty close to me. I think the only query here is the compressor. Is that modelled? I haven't heard it. But the air (outside) drains work perfectly, like a real AC4400.

The interior cab is also well done. It has ambience of the cab which you have when driving.

I found the SD40-2 accurate too.

I am not going to come in here and defend this anymore. If people say anything too defamatory or explicit I'll just get the mods onto it.

The AC4400CW is the worst out of the three locomotives, absolutely terrible. In notch 8, it sounds like a balloon being deflated. Not trying to be "defamatory", but you keep claiming that sounds are accurate when most of us on here unanimously agree that they are no where close to accurate.

I got out of the cab. This simulator is heaven! !!*ok*!!

So I did hear the whine of the traction motors the GE makes. !!*ok*!!

I am going to ask the mods to close this thread since it seems it is being hijacked.

Tip: If you want info on sounds, listen to some REAL cab rides which can be found on youtube. Research it yourself and stop wasting my time.

I don't know what game you're trying to play here but it's getting annoying. You may state your own free opinion over anything here, but all of us are trying to point out things which need to be addressed and fixed. You on the other hand make everyone who visit's this site think that TSW is flawlessly perfect, which it is not!

You've lost your credibility and people should imho begin ignoring your statements for the lack of accuracy.
