Is DTG getting ahead of themselves?

The base game, CSX Heavy Haul is still broken, and DTG is currently "about" to release the Great Western Mainline route. I sometimes wonder if they just disregard our complaints. What are your opinions?

I need to moderate myself posting on here re DTG but I've pretty much summed up my feelings in the current threads running over at Trainsim dot com.

I might have posted this question over there, but I am unable to set up an account with the site, they never send me the email I need to register. :/

Perhaps they are, but it is still too early to draw a definite conclusion on TSW.

I do think DTG is finding it more difficult than anticipated to "open up" the fixed and closed game created with the UE4 engine. I.e. to bring train make up, scenario creation and world creation tools as good but preferably better than those of TSxx.

I wholeheartedly agree on the need to fix the bugs and design failures in TSW:CSX but it seems DTG considers CSX-HH as finished. The first British route's release has been pushed back by a month to fix issues.

Still wishing for DTG to create the best train simulation in the end, but it will probably a long wait since their programming team isn't that large.

You don't need a account to read Vern's bitching over there.

They have quite a happy bunch of curmudgeons over there, but they do create moments of thought once and a great while.

Errrm, no, Trev, DTG have already announced that they aren't creating any more patches for CSX Heavy Haul, and their development staff are now working on a British route and a German route release, which will probably now be in Q4-2017, possibly now even Q1-2018, as the British route has been delayed and pushed back to Mid-September, as per their announcement last Thursday, see below for details, please keep up with the rest of us...... !!spank!!

If you have a look at the original delay statement, there is a question asked that was answered by "trainsim Steve" which mentions a patch to CSX but it is roiled up in the release of the new Reading route and has been delayed similarly, so there is hope.

That said, I thought teh statement about wanting to give users a chance to get on board and pre-order, hence the delay a bit patronising. If you were interested, you would have pre-ordered. They could keep pre-orders open for months and the uptake is only going to be marginally greater than their original pre-sale window. If you want it, you want it; it is not something that grows on you like mold :D

DTG are moving to v4.16 of the UE4 engine (that's public knowledge :D ) It's therefor safe to assume, given DTG James comments elsewhere, that the push back is to allow both the fixes and the many performance improvements in UE4 4.16 that are now available to DTG to be put to good use . :D

I'm hoping that the recent announcements by Epic will flow to DTG, allowing for better/faster workflows, and then to us, in the form of useful toys. :D

I still refuse to touch until the throttle/amps get fixed.
