Built new machine. TSW more playable now

Ok, I did it. Built a new machine. 1500 bucks, and TSW is now playable. Although it is a tough play due to putrid physics, terrible sounds, and such, but it is playable, and will just shelve it for a bit while I wait for the third party sound fixes and the like to be released. Frame rates now pretty consistent between 30 to 62. And that's with the minimally populated activities that DTG has allowed us to have.

Actually the sounds have been much improved as DTG has been working on the abundance of complaints from the so called experts.
The sound from the coupler slack is much more pronounced. They still have several items to look into yet.
Your constructive feed-back could direct these improvements in the not so distant future.

All three locos have the same horn. Wrong answer.
The AC4400 at idle, sounds like an AC4400 although rather quiet. But throttle up, and it does not even begin to resemble GE sound at all. Sounds like a hoover vacuum cleaner. GE AC4400, powered by Hoover Vacuum Cleaner Company.
Rolling stock in general, is still to quiet.
But hey, they improved the coupler sounds!
I am just waiting for Searchlight Simulations to release their sounds. DTG can't even begin to touch the quality of the sounds from these guys.

I agree with the sounds comment. Their content creators need to spend an 8 hour day in a CSX locomotive to understand what it is all about. A little Krellnut and MLWAudio would go a long way for them.

They had Krellnut and effed up his wonderful work. If you look back a while you can see where Walter was a little more than peeved at what they did to his recordings.

I saw that post too that Krellnut had up. DTG took all the "bite" out of Krellnut's awesome rolling stock sounds. I don't think many of the brits that developed this, have been to the USA and stood trackside as trains rolled by. They are loud! Even new cars, with new wheels, on fresh welded track, are loud. And all the pings, squeaks and squeals, are all loud. Krellnut had them right. DTG didn't need to modify them.

Not everything is super loud though necessarily. I was kicking cars the other night and was down in the bowl next to a track with CWR, and the car certainly did sneak up on me aside from a bit of rail singing.

Please do not try to justify DTG's TSW sounds travesty. If you even think these sounds are good, may I suggest a hearing test?

100% correct!

The cars can be very quiet when kicked, especially when wearing hearing protection in the yards!
I do wish DTG would bring back Krellnut's original sounds!

But what scenarios in TSW have the user kicking around cars? The included scenarios are almost all mainline freight moving at speed, and those just are not quiet. So in regards to the sounds in TSW, and the scenarios, the sounds are too quiet. But if you are happy, with 35, 45, 55mph trains sounding nice and quiet like a railcar that is being kicked around, and you have your hearing protection on, then this version of TSW is perfect for you!

I never said that I was happy with the sounds in TSW! I suggest you read my whole post!

I was simply replying to BNSFdude's comment about kicking cars to which he is 100% correct that cars are very quiet when kicked.

And the comment about kicking cars was irrelevant to this post, as there are no activities with TSW that currently depict that. Duh.

cbff33, I believe BNSFdude was referring to kicking cars in real life.
