Today's road map update: https://live.dovetailgames.com/live/tra ... tober-2021

And release notes for the updated main game: https://forums.dovetailgames.com/thread ... 021.46285/

most of interest to US players:
"▲ [Route Add-On] NDD-R7 04 Sherman Hill with SD70ACe and SD40-2
▲ [Route Add-On] NDD-R7 03 Horseshoe Curve: Altoona - Johnstown & South Fork with ES44AC & GP38-2 - Developed by Skyhook Games"

A UP SD40-2 has been added to the Sherman Hill,

... but what about fixing the AC4400CW from Cane Creek with its many defects? No word of that still !*not-ok*!

Skyhook are aware of the issues but will not take action on them (probably because of Lawn Mower Simulator). It makes sense as to why it's the worst rated TSW2 DLC on Steam.

Let's hope Horseshoe Curve doesn't end up like this.

It probably will. I railfan on the Pittsburg line a lot and I'm afraid that they will not do any of the trains correctly. Not that they have to get it down to every railcar, but I'm nervous that they will botch the train symbols. They are most definitely copying and pasting the geep, but who knows what they are going to do with the GEVO. From what Skyhook has released, it probably will have the AC44 vacuum cleaner sounds and incorrect stuff regarding the model itself. I at least hope it doesn't end up like that, but from what they've released it probably won't be good. We just have to hope for the best.

Today's road map update: https://live.dovetailgames.com/live/tra ... tober-2021

Nothing new on announced the USA DLC.

No word on fixing the glaring errors in Cane Creek. DTG seems to pull its hands off third party produced DLC, while all DLC is a mixture of home cooked and foreign stuff. Read here: https://forums.dovetailgames.com/thread ... ook.44733/ and blame it all on Skyhook Games.

In almost every thread, DTG and its preferred partners continue to receive a continued thrashing on their own boards and elsewhere, but with typical Brit stoïcity seem to remain as unphased as ever, you have to give them that *!lol!*

Plus the "hopeless optimism", an oxymoron as there ever was, of the game's staunchest fanbois, sweet summer children, wishing, waiting for all their wishes to be fulfilled in the next DLC, or the one after that, or in the new cycle of DLC next year ....

Still, sales on the consoles should still be sufficient to keep DTG in the black and on their proven track.

Whether one personally likes TSW2 or not, many of those young people you look down your nose at and call "fanbois," "sweet children," and "konsole kiddies, " etc., represent a new generation of train simmers/railfans. But I suppose you'd rather it remain an "elite" hobby?

I think the console market already has become DTG's main target with TSW.

A very convenient platform, everything locked down, tamper and cheat proof, a healthy business model with a steady income provided DTG releases a new level each month. Plus, probably less "elite" clientele, with little experience of real, model or VR railroads.

The console players do have to stick up with the mounting errors and the huge backlog of DTG's "heritage crew" or whatever to repair those bugs, if at all.
Because the console players also miss out on all the mods and patches intrepid "elite" volunteers have created for the us players to improve the game, circumvent all kinds of licensing, etc.

Console players already malcontent over some trophy feature closed down? Haven't checked for a very long time, but is collecting treasure while trespassing on live railroad still a major part of game play for kids?

Anyway, a nice torrent with all 40 or so DLC has turned up and gives everybody a chance to find out what they are missing, or not.

We'll see how it goes with the part of Horseshoe Curve and Sherman Hill DTG and/or its preferred business partners plan to release for the USA market.

Steam reviews are not very representative with only a couple 10 of votes on most DLC, but some of DTG's partners have a lot to excuse themselves for, or to make up for, to regain acceptance and credibility.

Latest update: https://live.dovetailgames.com/live/tra ... ember-2021

NOSIG on the promised USA content, still coming to us, without ETA.

Steam locomotives apparently in advanced state of development.

Quite some UK and Germany DLC coming.

But UK customers rightfully malcontent with the absence of a Valenta powered HST in BR colours for the short stretch of their stomping grounds in West Cornwall.

No word on fixing the Cane Creek AC4400CW *!mad!* *!twisted!* !*not-ok*!

Interesting how quickly Sherman Hill and Horseshoe Curve are advancing. From my understanding, speculation is prohibited on this forum, so I will keep my words to myself.

For Horseshoe, hoping for the best, expecting the same quality as Cane Creek.

Speculation is not prohibied, just subject to ridicule if it's really silly.

Sherman Hill has been out for a while and is in need of the usual patching up already, DTG has learning nothing about making sensible start up settings and DPU setups. Cane Creek's AC4400CW has had its body lowered to the correct height, but the rear truck is still facing the wrong way, but perhaps the wheels are rotating now?

So the latest roadmap of December 14 has arrived: https://live.dovetailgames.com/live/tra ... ember-2021

For the festive season, those who own Boston Sprinter route get a free ACS64 repaint.

Crossing gates will start opening and closing soon on several routes, including USA routes.

In production still (which I believe is a stage further advanced than planning and preparation):
[Route Add-On] NDD-R7 03 Horseshoe Curve: Altoona - Johnstown & South Fork with ES44AC & GP38-2 - Developed by Skyhook Games
[Route Add-On] NCC-R7 02 Harlem Line: Grand Central Terminal - White Plains with M3A and M7A

and lots of other bits and bops, but still no serious address of the many still outstanding core issues, almost 5 years into the game ....

DTG's talking heads answering some but sidestepping many other issues on their latest livestream: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9Bfra2HJsbU

Latest roadmap update: https://live.dovetailgames.com/live/tra ... nuary-2022

Lots of words, little substance and from what I gather from DTG's own board, only little faith in actual improvements of the game.

New Swiss route to complement the poorly received previous routes from Rivet?

From the USA interest: [NCC-R7 02] Harlem Line: Grand Central Terminal - White Plains with M3A and M7A
while the Long Island route is still full of errors and bugs?

[NDD-R7 03] Horseshoe Curve: Altoona - Johnstown & South Fork with ES44AC & GP38-2 - Developed by Skyhook Games, has already been featured in a livestream I think.

Like any big corporation, DTG needs its own abbrevature: https://forums.dovetailgames.com/thread ... ode.25968/

Got myself the Clinchfield, Sherman Hill and Boston Sprinter and a locomotive or two for 75% off in the latest Steam sale, which is reasonable value for money IMO ;-)
But the fact that such recent DLC is already sold at these discounts is telltale sign of their commercial success at full price.

Latest road map update: https://live.dovetailgames.com/live/tra ... ruary-2022

Lots of talk about how the 'release process' works and what this Preservation Crew is up to, fixing all those accumulated bugs without creating new ones? Their task list is huge.

For the USA interest ...
new release from DTG planned: [NCC-R7 02] Harlem Line: Grand Central Terminal - North White Plains with M3A and M7A
new release from third parties planned: [NDD-R7 03] Horseshoe Curve: Altoona - Johnstown & South Fork with ES44AC & GP38-2 - Developed by Skyhook Games

Still no real initiatives to move away from a pretty train driving game, i.e. progress towards any simple scenario and train editor or free roam scenarios is non existent.

Another road map update: https://live.dovetailgames.com/live/tra ... ruary-2022

You best sort this one out yourself, lots of talk about everybody working hard etc etc, items moving around on the various lists DTG uses to keep track

Apparently, dynamic billboard displaying "real" commercials are the most anticipated feature, whether on DTG's side for the additional revenue, or on the players' side for another way of tracking you, because there will be a need of an update to the privacy policy.
So in that aspect the game indeed simulates the real world, while the devs resources should better be spent on actually improving the simulation aspect of the game and the huge backlog of bugs? But then, money earned by advertising this way, can be spent on improvements is probably DTG's reasoning *!greengrin!*
