Remeber, tonight there will be a Q&A stream, I believe live on Twitch with compilation on YT later.

Here is a critical assessment of what's been announced on the webpage: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LF9OozrsFWI

I also wonder about this Livery Designer, isn't that a violation of railroad licensing terms, even when you cannot share your BNSF or whatever repaint?

Does Scenario Planner allow you to create your own consists? And those of AI trains?

An editor is the only reason I own TS2020, take that away and I would be back to using MSTS / Open Rails or something worse. I think there is a missed opportunity to make their product better by not offering an editor. Custom route offerings, enhancements, modifications, etc all have their own following which benefits the developer of the original software. The current business model is a what I would term a throw away model. Use it, get bored of it due to a lack of customization and then discard it - literally. I have owned TSW since it first came and have used it a total of 3 hours. Why only 3 hours is the big question, as the sim is beautiful and full of potential however I cannot tweak the things I think need fixing or modify to make my experience more enjoyable. There is also the aspect of taking something and making something completely new for others to use from existing released products such as my current route project in TS2020. Do a route project well enough and people will buy and download the existing six or seven route packages required to run a nice looking route which actually make it the most expense route to own and a freebie to the original software developer. Who would throw away the free development of a product and the money from the sale of six or seven products just to get it. Sorry but this makes no sense from a business perspective, they are throwing away "FREE" revenue that guys like me are creating for them, all they have to do is give us the tools which are already usable and need a few bugs worked out. Someone really needs to have a rethink about this. My favorite Back To The Future movie quote would summarize my current thoughts on the matter and what I would say to DTG if given the chance to talk to them: Think Mcfly! Think

Fact of the matter is that more than half the revenue comes from Console users anyways. They are quoted to say that they want to keep the experience for the game the same for everyone, therefore limiting PC users who very well could use the editor, to not having it at all unless you want to partner with them for not even half the revenue. No freeware possibilities either within that scope either.

People's attempts to contact the 3rd party support team mostly go unanswered completely, or take months to hear back from. Sounds like they're trying to fix that, but how good a job of that they're doing is really up to the perspective of those who've tried to work something out with them.

Take Minerman's experiences with trying to publish his Bergen as a good example of this.

Just curious. Do you have any serious problems with TS2020?

No I have not.
I still play it.
But like serious issues is the game using only two cores and rest sitting idle causing minor lag many times which we call tile shuttering

They (DTG) want to keep all revenue in house to pay for all the development, this is why it is locked. I do not blame them it may take years for them to get the return they need. The console kiddies is where it is at. Not too many variations of hardware so fewer headaches. These users do not care about customizations and the work involved, they want to play out of the box. I think this reskinner is an appeasement to let them be "creative" and to post there efforts on DTG LIve. The console crowd does not complain so loudly as we do because we as a group understand the inner workings and complexities and under stand railroad history and the changes taken place to established routes and equipment. They are happy to simply jump in and go.

Here is a YT resume of yesterdays Questions and Answers stream with DTG: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OlS-BXQFdjk

Interim PR person doing a good job in getting clear Yes or No answers from Matt Peddlesden.

I believe a transcript is also available somewhere.]

Lots of new play value for kids, like colouring your own trains, but all instances will look the same.
Pick and choose custom scenarios, but no consist creator?

A quick glance over the other boards(including DTG's own) and channels showed me there is disappointment all around over TSW2 and DTG in general. At least on the PC side of the market. The console market has no reference, and probably doesn't perceive an difference between DTG and other game studios' business practices.

However on the positive side, there still seem to be enough people still wanting to give DTG their money, so the game will stay alive for the cycle to be repeated one more time. Which means there will be more Steam Sales with TSW2 in the future that allows more cautious customers to step in at reduced price before TSW3 will be announced.

Will the Preserved Collection still be offered to new TSW2 customers at full price? Or will it be remastered a little and offered to the TSW2 market to buy anew?

August 6 launch day is only less than two months away, so DTG's famous Quality Assurance Team should be putting its final touches on their new game.

We'll see how it goes :D

Train Sim World 2

Unread postby DigitalRails » Fri Jun 12, 2020 12:55 am

Level crossing animations are now removed even from Sand Patch Grade, the only route that had them to begin with, because apparently they used too much resources, and instead of fixing it, they just removed the system altogether

Completely stupid and selfish of DTG towards those who want to take advantage of modern technology to create realistic looking routes.

Why TSW(2) is still being acknowledged here is beyond me, as it is not worthy of any mention. DTG only care about their finances, not their fanbase.

I hope another train sim is developed (and soon) for the TS users to indulge in creativeness without having to use a 2005 graphics engine.

Why not create it using Unity instead?
