Export from TSW into Unreal

Unread postby xxuntitledxx » Tue Jun 23, 2020 11:49 am

Hello all,

So I was just wondering...

I know they say that they won't have an editor for TSW as in a specific editor such as in TS20XX. But, what if you have the Unreal Editor? Is there a way to get the assets used in each route or in a specific route and just use the assets in a scratch built route within Unreal? Then export it into TSW? I could even take a route already in sim and modify it. (i.e. Extend the NEC to Philly providing I have the terrain, etc.)

Would this be something even remotely possible?

Yes it would be (partially) possible BUT in no legal way. Therefore the answer is no.

You can export to Train Sim World - No
Reason - You need those plugins which export assets from Unreal Engine to Train Sim World.
Plugins like - Simugraph
You can export assets to Unreal Engine BTW.
Check the Editor Preview Stream, you may see a few extra tabs in native Unreal Engine 4 editor.

What if you were just doing scenery, wouldn't need to worry about the locos, cars, physics...all you need is the scenery assets.
I've seen people remove fences on the CSX Heavy Haul route, this would essentially be the same thing except you're building a whole route.

They unpack the game files, they check which assets do Fences are and they delete it and repack.

Hm....so thinking out loud...if you could pull it into the editor, edit the heck out of a route and repak it wouldn't that work? At least until the next update...which then again kinda sucks...too bad Unreal doesn't let you just add your own stuff to it... I was looking forward to making my TS20XX route in TSW...*sigh*
