asset editor in TS2017 utilities

In the developer docs for Railworks, written in 2007, the asset editor is described. I see lots of references to this editor when googled, for earlier years of Railworks and Train Simulator. However, in TS 2017 there appears to be only a blueprint editor referenced in the Utilities program. Has the asset editor been done away with? Is the old asset editor available anywhere?

The asset editor is still provided in TS2017. It is part of the Blueprint Editor ( this isn't new, that how it always has been ). It provides a preview and child editing capability for content builders. The BPE and its tools are mainly meant for those building content from their own original source files - ie creating their own geometry, textures, blueprints etc. You have to have the source files to use BPE, and it took me a while in the beginning to realize that 'SERZING' a .bin file doesn't generate a source file for the BPE. So its not so helpful for 'repainters' and those who directly modify existing content, but its an essential tool for original content creators.

Here's how to access it from the BPE.
