Due to my older thread being locked i am posting the link for the re-released Riviera in the Fifties. http://store.steampowered.com/app/325960/ Interestingly it is priced lower than the modern era one.

A curious question to those that own both versions. Did they simply take the modern version and replace it with 50's era objects and assets or was the whole route re-made from scratch? I only own the 50's era route. !**conf**!

I'm a GWR/BR enthusiast and have only the 50s version. This would be a good question for the boys over at UKTS, so I'll try over there.

..And here's the response I received from a well established member...

From Exeter to Paignton it's the same route - just with more tracks and different buildings on the 50's version.
But some of the buildings will be the same on both routes as they have not changed very much over the years.

The 50s version goes all the way to Kingswear and includes the Heathfield branch and the Brixham branch. I think the modern version stops at Paignton.

I own both the modern and 50s versions, they are 2 separate addons and coexist quite happily in the same installation. One does not overwrite the other.

The 50s version includes more trackage than the modern one. Namely a couple little branch lines and the line from Paignton to Kingswear which today is a preserved steam railway.

They are separate addons, you should have known before. I do not understand why the route with less trackage is higher priced than the backdated route with more trackage.

Who ever said or implied they weren't separate add-ons? I basically asked if they sold us the same route twice with simply different era objects and assets swapped out, but with the same trackage laid and reused between them. Apparently not, which is why I asked cuz I didn't know.

Hey all,

This is in hand and we’ll be fixing the discrepancy in the $ prices.
This was caused by a Steam discrepancy in exchange rates and their fixed pricing matrix, which has naturally changed over the years.
We’ll have more consistent pricing sorted within the next few days.

regards

Derek

Good to see it's back.

Reason I got a bit grouchy over the matter at TS, is this route and the Falmouth branch are pretty much de-facto when it comes to doing anything remotely GWR inspired. We know in the pasts routes have been taken down and not re-appeared (NEC, Project Platform) which of course is absolutely DTG's prerogative, no one would deny that. If you own the route already then you're okay anyway but someone who comes along later and needs the missing route for the assets referenced in your route is out of luck. A similar situation now exists around the BNSF content, in particular Marias Pass which is a treasure trove of useful assets. I and many others who bought it at the time and fine but until or indeed more likely if at all, DTG sort out the licensing issues with BNSF, anyone new to the sim from outside the USA is stuffed!

Back to the GWR and somewhat anecdotally, the GWR based model railway was something of a cliché in the 1960's and 1970's, with numerous versions of Fairford, Kingsbridge and Ashburton popping up. However in truth the GWR branch line was something of a myth, just as much track mileage in Devon and Cornwall was actually owned by the Southern Railway (later Southern Region of BR) and many of the GWR secondary routes weren't branches at all but cross country links - Banbury to Cheltenham, Taunton to Barnstaple, Craven Arms to Bridgnorth to name but a few! So the 1960's vision of a GWR branch terminus was about as close to representing the UK rail system as a Kalmbach plan of the same era was an accurate reflection on US railroading!

I miss read an above post, I thought someone was asking if one route overwrote the other, sorry 'bout that! !!**sorry**!!
