Still plenty of scope for your treatments Buzz, only UP family versions in this release leaving plenty of others to go at.

The DLC has just been hammered for faults on the DTG Forum by one very angry fella.

He sounds like another one of those people with anger management issues. I already did the sound which the boys assure sure me will be done chop chop on their page. I also did the freight cars to WJ Sound for anyone who wants it. Headlight mods next.

The anger expressed seems to be beyond the sounds. Turns out the model itself is rather crap and is missing a MAJOR COMPONENT, the spring hangers on the side of the Blomberg truck!

It's not DTM's worst work.
F3 and F7 units are to the 1950's as GEVO's are today... they're just everywhere and common (at least for me).
I won't use the word good but I'll use the word solid attempt.
Mainly because it's an F unit and in my trainsim lineup they're typically just background AI anyway. I'll pass on this so RSC/DTG's model does the job "good enough" without having to buy another F unit lineup from a different creator.
DTM's quality is kind of like a rollercoaster. Sometimes you end up with something kind of sort of good and other times you can't believe its the same person. I think that's where the frustration comes from nowadays.

I am looking at them right now and I have no idea what you are talking about.

It must be nice to be perfect.

It's the swing hanger that literally holds the trucks together. The piece that is U shaped and goes over the leaf springs.

It's a critical component of the truck.

The spring hanger is this guy, circled in red:

The Blomberg truck provided a significantly smoother ride than an Alco because of these spring hangers -- they're pivoted at the top to allow some side-to-side motion. In a Blomberg truck, the visible frame does not actually contact the bolster -- it pulls up on the spring hangers, which compress underneath the giant leaf spring which IS attached to the bolster. It's an incredibly smart design and the main reason why a Blomberg was considered a high speed heavy duty road truck compared to a two axle Flexicoil which did not have the same amount of movement available.
This is a massive oversight if you've ever seen plans of a Blomberg or understand how they work, and it's incredible to me that in (assumingly) multiple revisions of this model nobody from either DTM or DTG noticed. It indicates a lack of attention to detail and a lack of quality control.

Hmm... Looks to be a bit lacking in road specific details and, the aforementioned bit of the trucks is notable. As a Blender user, I'd reckon that's a sub-5 minute job to model them on... so hopefully that gets updated? Maybe? Hopefully?
And I've read that there aren't any new sounds which, is disappointing but unsurprising at this point. To be fair, I'd imagine it's no small feat to source accurate, clean F3 sounds.
The boxcar and cabeese are neat. But this is definitely a pass for me, unless there's a steep sale.

By the way since DTG has this generous return policy something a lot of software out there doesn't offer just turn the thing back in. DTM is on Facebook and also available by e-mail. My communication with him has always been very positive and I am sure he would be happy to listen to any suggestions. I turned a product back one time and told them why and within a week the problem was solved. Perhaps instead of running down people making suggestions to make the product better would be a lot more productive.

The better sounds are out there. Are you not aware of them?

while i agree with some of the points here there is always the wonderful phrase of
if you want something done and you want it done right, do it yourself.
