I did some research and before I concede CtrTroger's point .. first a little background. Well, suffice to say I was aghast and the prospect of AT&SF being done first as it was originally intended. Fortunately, Wikipedia set me straight. SD45-2 AT&SF 90 units, EL 13, SD45 AT&SF 135, EL 34, SDP45 AT&SF Zero, EL 34. I could say I was talking SDP, but I am no rivet counter. As an Erie man, and well, since I cant cuss like my Dad when I ask him what's the difference between an SD45-2 and a SDP45. I'll paraphrase my imagined conversation (we have had similar discussions before)
Father of Minerman "SDP45? What the hell is that? You mean Thirty-Six Hundreds" Look, Minerman we didn't give a (fig) about what the (HE double hockey stick) model it was on the Railroad. All I cared about was how many tons, how many axels I had to pull and what my total horsepower was. When you hit Black Rock cut with a 110 car train going up hill on the grade, all that matters is .. YOU DONT STALL so where I got five - Twenty-Four Hundreds, nine - twelve hundreds .. we just didn't give a (fig). Am I going to make it up that hill is all that matters.
Me: So Dad, the twenty-four hundreds are Alcos Right?
Father of Minerman: Have you been listening to me? Yes, twenty-four hundreds are the (uh, sounds like barking) Alco's!
Me: Another Yuengling Dad, your looking light.
Dad: Absolutely, I really enjoy our talks son.
Me: I love you pop.
In conclusion - strtroger is absolutely in the right - someone get that man his Santa FE SD's already!
As for the Minerman, well, I'll be at the bar with Dad, talking about some EL Thirty-Six Hundreds they are gonna make for that computer train game.
