3-D Skies in Quick Drive

Does anyone know what file it is that tells TS16 where to pull skies from in Quick Drive scenarios? I'd like to replace some of the default sky textures with better ones, but I'm not sure where to begin. I do have the option for dynamic clouds turned on in the TS16 graphics settings, but the skies in QD remain less impressive than the skies in Standard/Career mode. Any advice?

I am not sure, perhaps Kuju/RailSimulatorCore?

The 3D Weather is generated from code in the SilverLining folder.

A QD scenario is sort of like a template. Open one up in RW_Tools and look for <Weather> or something like that. It should tell you the path to the weather .bin file.
You might try to change that .bin file to point to your customary weather files.

I can tell you this much... You can not change the sky type by going into the build section and editing the QD scenario. You can change the weather however. !!*ok*!!

Hi,

The Quick Drive Scenario is only the template, RW creates a temporary scenario (with its own scenario folder) every time you start a QD run. This custom scenario then includes whatever weather is set in the weather choice made in the Drive Menu before starting the actual QD session.

Matt Peddlesden has a very detailed tutorial video about QuickDrive scenarios on his YouTube Channel:

Thanks, Michael,

So the next question is: where does the Drive Menu gets its weather from? There is only 4 seasons and 7 conditions (and the clock) so there must be some .bin file this is taken from?
I've inspected the contents of RailSimulatorCore\Weather and assume it is the 7 entires that start with SL_, indicating they use the 3D weather from the SilverLining folder.

You can edit those SL_***.bin files to have them point to the weather of your choice. That new choice of yours should be the default QD weather from now on.
For starters it is probably best to create the same folder\file structure outside of the .ap pack and rename the RW_******.bin of your choice into the equivalent SL_******.bin to bypass the SilverLining stuff.
