I would like to be able to identify what kind of track is used on any route that I want to modify or add some sidings to.
I have so many kinds of track it's hard to match what is used on a route.
Can anyone give me a hint on how to find out what tracks are used on any layout?
Thanks,
Bob

If you have RW_Tools, run the Check Route option, after a little while a list of missing items will appear (if any), exit that screen and you will be asked if you wish to view a list of all assets used. Click Yes and a list of all scenery items appears (this may be thousands of items on a big route).
Enter Track in the find box and click on 'Find' and it will take you to the first track item found, keep clicking on 'Find' to see if there are any more, e.g. in Donner Pass there are 5 different tracks used.

Or just open the world editor and use the select tool on a section of track. The type and the track rules used will be displayed in the top-left menu.

No, it doesn't. This doesn't work for any loft assets, only "chunk" scenery has an XML file specified, and you still have to past that name into railworks to find out the asset name.

Thanks everyone will give it a try right now.
I can try out my new U-Boat from VR. He makes some fine engines with great sounds.
Thanks again.

Whoops. My brain thought "Select" even tho the text reads "Select Tool" - IE the dashed orange box on the Track tab.
Sorry.
