Manuals??

Unread postby Accurate » Mon Oct 12, 2015 12:28 pm

The manual in the game's folder is rather sparse. Is another, more comprehensive manual, available?

It has been a long to since I really messed with track. How do I set the speed limit for tracks?
As I faintly remember there was a ribbon to be laid.

The old original manual should still be there and there are several tutorials in the learning section of the library.

The manuals have been spread between two folders.

There are the main manuals in C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\SteamApps\common\RailWorks\Manuals\EN:

TS2016 User Guide.pdf
TS2015 User Guide.pdf
TS2015 Quick Start Guide.pdf
RW Creator Manual_Web.pdf
RW Timetable View Manual_Web.pdf
RW Keyboard Signal Guide_Web.pdf
RW Localisation Guide.pdf

Then there are some more recent manuals in C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\SteamApps\common\RailWorks\dev\Docs:

HOWTOUSE_TS12Tech.pdf
HOWTOUSE_TS13Tech.pdf
HOWTOUSE_TS14Tech_P1.pdf
HOWTOUSE_TS14Tech_P2.pdf
HOWTOUSE_TS15Tech.pdf
HOWTOUSE_TSEngineScripts.pdf (this one is my favourite)
HOWTOUSE_TSScenarioScripts.pdf

Plus, as Buzz said, there are manuals here in the File Library, including the old "dev docs" that had a lot of info (some of it obsolete now, and some of it just plain wrong) for modellers.

If your placing new track, there is a popup usually on the right and it has 2 boxes for speed. Passenger and freight.

If you are trying to change track already placed. You have to use the SELECTION tool under the tracks stuff and place a gizmo at you starting point and run it out as far as you need to go and that same window pops up on the right and you can change the track speeds there.

Ok, Thanks for the info.

Now I remember the "speed ribbon". Sort of difficult to place.

I'm 99.99% sure that the wiki hasn't been updated ever, although I'll admit that I haven't looked at it since discovering that it didn't provide much in the way of information or help ... and that must have been at least 5 or more years ago. !*not-ok*! !*not-ok*! !*not-ok*! !*not-ok*!

Yes it is hard to place if there are several tracks there. You usually have to actually select the track next to the one you want. Been that way for several years now.

I think that's correct, if I recall correctly the wiki offered the same content as the PDF dev docs available in our file library, except in an annoying wiki format.
