I am extremely confused.
I opened my TS since Sept 15 and the first screen has changed to the new 2016 one, but I have not purchased anything yet.

I have 2015 with most of the routes available previously.

If I download the following

"Buy Train Simulator 2016: Steam Edition"

does this have the new features.... specifically the new user interface, rail-fan mode and driver assist?
Or do you still have to buy them separately. (if so, where is that link)

What about your content that was bought before, does your previous purchased Steam DLC content and routes still appear?

If this your first year with the Train Simulator franchise?

Dovetail always sends out a free technology upgrade every year when they release the latest version of Train Simulator. Technologically you know own Train Simulator 2016. You have all the technological and graphical perks of TS2016. The only things you don't have are the new routes and locos that come with the Steam Edition of Train Simulator 2016. If you already owned Sherman Hill, it will have automatically been updated to TS2016 standards, but if you want the new Gas Turbine Electric you'll have to buy TS2016 on Steam . It will act like a large DLC - nothing you already own will be removed or changed. It will just add on the routes and locos that come standard with this new version of the game.

This is the thread I've needed. I appreciate the response. Another question: when I go to purchase 2016, I am told I already have it. When I go ahead and click on purchase anyway, I am told that I will NOT be given another copy of 2016 (even though all I've gotten so far are the technological updates). So I've not gone through with the purchase yet. Should I go ahead and purchase notwithstanding that statement?

Yes. You won't get another copy of the base game or anything else you already own, but you will get everything that you don't own.

A follow on question: I recall seeing some discussion that TS2016 was not going to be a free upgrade. From what I'm seeing in this thread, I assume this was incorrect?
