Question about content in 2016

Steam tells me I already own 2016 because of the free core update yesterday with the release. Since I already own both US routes that come with 2016 it says if I buy it I won't get another copy. What I want is the UP Turbine, Is it worth the price I believe I would have to purchase the game again at 38.00 USD just to get the Turbine....

I went ahead and bought it yesterday. I personally thought it was a good deal. I mean, I got 4 routes plus their stock which I didn't previously own (the 3 new featured routes plus the NS Coal District), I got signed up for the new TS rewards thing (only available if you purchase the game from Steam), and the Turbine. While I'm mostly an American fan I do appreciate the sheer amount of GWR steam locos on their new route - they look great even at low graphic settings and the sounds are awesome. IMHO if you're a fan of American steam you should at least appreciate British steam because if there were no British steam locos there'd be no American steamers. I haven't tried the German stock yet.

I guess what I'm trying to say is if you want to broaden your TS horizons with non-US material and get yourself a Turbine while you're at it, go ahead. However, if in the end you really are only interested in the Turbine then wait and see. Maybe DTG will do what they did for the SP SD70M and eventually release it as stand-alone DLC.

Hope that helps. !*cheers*!

" I got signed up for the new TS rewards thing (only available if you purchase the game from Steam),"

This is not accurate. It asked me to sign up for the rewards program the first time I opened 2016 and all I have so far is the free update.

Simple solution: look at messages on the RailSim Facebook site: https://www.facebook.com/railsimulator .

RSC has addressed this issue several times, because people keep asking the same question without bothering to look at previous answers. Here are a few samples:

Hi Guys, we are aware of the issues some of you are currently facing when trying to purchase the game on Steam and are working with valve to get this resolved, thank you for your patience.

Please bear with us. We are working with Valve to solve the issue.

We are aware of this issue and are working with Valve to resolve it, we will update you guys as soon as we have further news on the subject

We are currently experiencing technical difficulties with the launch of TS16. We are working with Valve to get these issues resolved as soon as possible. Please keep an eye on Facebook for all of the latest news and information. Thank you for your understanding, - Martin

I'm sure there are more -- go see for yourselves. By the way, a similar situation cropped up when TS2014 became TS2015; apparently what's involved is a pow-wow among RSC, Valve, and Steam. Anyone here want to take that on? No? Fine, just calm down and wait a few days.

Same here, I'm signed up as well and didn't purchase anything.
I'm like the others, I'm tempted by the Gas Electric but it's not available as a separate purchase. It's not an engine that can be realistically run anywhere but Sherman Hill either.

Does anyone have a clue yet, on what this free content is?

Not unless someone models some other parts of Union Pacific's operations in the Wasatch range *!greengrin!*

The most DTG has said (as far as I am aware) is that it's "New, Exclusive Content" that will be released every month starting Oct.1st.

It is a much updated or enhanced Sherman Hill route that you get. The scenery and the locomotives and wagon sounds are improved. That's what you get for free. As far as the NS Coal route I posted elsewhere and continue to explore as soon as I get home tonight.

I would like to note: are the older Sherman Hill standard scenarios still present, and have any been added to the base package?

Yes the older scenarios are still there. No idea about new ones since I have a ton of scenarios from before and they are all still there.

People who had the problem of not being able to buy TS2016 because you already had it myself included only need to scroll down the page a bit and click on Train Simulator 2016 Steam Edition to buy. When I now scroll down and click on buy of TS2016 SE it says I now own everything in this pack.

Did they fix the ES44 Horn?
I'm asking because I put the sounds in that I had before. IE my mods.
That's easy enough for me to reverse. Before anyone asks why, who would've thought they would improve the sounds... :D
I like the brakes on the ES44. I set them to medium.

I have not bought yet and I signed up for the rewards after the free download and ts2016 startup, getting later an email by DTG, not Steam.

How's that again? Not exactly. After I clicked on the buy tab, an added to cart message appeared with a note attached. The note reads as follows:

Train Simulator 2016: Steam Edition: According to our records, you already own one or more of the items included in this package on Steam.
If purchasing for yourself, you will not receive an extra copy of:
Train Simulator 2016
Train Simulator: Sherman Hill Route Add-On
Train Simulator: Norfolk Southern Coal District Route Add-On
Train Simulator: West Rhine: Cologne - Koblenz Route Add-On

So that's what I'm not getting: no mention of what I am getting, which is probably nothing. Anyway, RSC is doing its best to quash this particular batch of anxiety on its facebook pages by promising over and over and over that they're working with Valve and Steam to allow us to spend money for what they seem to have given us for free already. Yes, I know that the last statement is not quite right, but I'm going to hold my breath until I turn blue or this muddle (which is exactly the same muddle that occurred during the 2014-2015 transition, but who at RSC, Valve, or Steam remembers that?) goes away.

What would all of us do with our time if this kind of nonsense didn't infinitely repeat itself?

P.s.: So far, I've only looked at Sherman Hill and at least the weather looks different: simulated fog on a stormy day in addition to simulated rain, but nothing like that serious winter stuff RSC has adopted as its new trailer.

!!howdy!! [I'm trying to disguise my grouchiness these days.]
