Interesting, finally getting some info. So it looks like TS 2016 will be a paided upgrade unlike previous years where they were free (personally no biggie to me), which as stated will be option but looks like their will be DLC that will be made for 2016 that can't be used in previous versions (fair enough).

Also by the looks of the article they are keeping the unreal version separate, which will be great. I can still enjoy all my content I have amassed over the years but still play with the new unreal version separately.

Thanks for posting this, excited to see what all these new features are! !!*ok*!!

Reading these comments after the article leads me to believe that a lot of people need some lessons in manners. Maybe I'm old fashioned but some person telling someone "you had better" fill in the blank is not the way to get folks to co-operate. Have most of these loons ever had a face to face conversation with anyone or do they just hide in their parents basement sending out foolish messages? I suspect the latter since acting like that face to face leads to getting your eye dotted.
!*cheers*!

Most of that article I had figured out myself, so nothing new to me. After being in the gaming world for 30 years you get to know how things work.

I like # 9 question and answer.

9 - THERE WILL BE NO FIXES FOR TS2015/TS2016 IN THE FUTURE

ED: We're committed to making sure that whichever version of Train Simulator you own, we'll continue to address known issues, for as long as it makes sense.

So, they might give you one patch, then say, OK, we aren't going to give any more support to this version, so, you'll all have to buy the new one, I can see it now, crafty devils. Call me Mr. Cynical if you wish. !*roll-laugh*!

Cheerz. ex-railwayman.

I do call you on that. You have no reason to come to that conclusion.

Well it's necessary in the software industry. Even Windows versions have a end of life.
An editor would be foolish to commit to eternal support of old technology.

Let's start with reading and writing lessons, then, eventually, advance to arithmetic. !!howdy!! !!jabber!!

I'm sorry if this has been discussed before, but once UE4® comes out is there a chance that some of the current DLC will be upgraded to work with UE4® so we can enjoy already released content with the UE4® features?

I will get my crystal ball out. DTG haven't mentioned that yet.

Possible but unlikely and frankly not desirable. Look at the headaches TANE has been going through in it's support of legacy Trainz stuff. It would be smarter for DTG to give the UE4 sim owners the latest/last version of the legacy sim to play the old stuff with it's purchase. That or offer it at a cheap price like they offer the legacy North American and European asset packs.

When software has to support legacy stuff, compromises are made and headaches usually follow. Try playing the gaming masterpiece "Fallout 3" on Win 7 or 8. Getting it to run on those platforms without freezes is a journey in patching, tinkering and headaches. Doesn't help that the developer isn't the one offering solutions nor is patching it themselves. Bethesda has simply moved on to newer projects.**!!bang!!**

That's odd. You got to pay to upgrade to TS2016. If it costs alot I'll probably keep TS2015.

That is always your choice. No one forces anyone to buy anything...........
