That's the first I've heard of a dev offering a beta version but excluding a copy of the final version when said beta is over. That feels like a real money grab.

I certainly won't be buying pioneers edition anymore and I get the feeling a lot of people won't either now. Unless someone really wants all the routes, it makes no sense to buy it for just 12 days of a beta.

I hope DTG very clearly states this in the steam page, otherwise there will a pretty bad ****storm after those 12 days are up from the people who don't fully know this yet.

Do what you think best. They make a offer. You make a decision to accept or decide not to take them up on it. Simple.

So what you really want is to buy product A, and get a free copy of product B? Because normally you buy product A and get acces to the beta of that, not something different. Wich is what this is...

No, we already own product A, and most of us would not buy an "updated" version of it for some new commuter routes, particularly when DTG will sell that version for almost nothing several times a year, even if we want those routes, and don't already have them. I can see how offering access to the Beta of product B might be hoped to drive some sales of the full price product A, but that's a departure from usual practice. And one with very limited appeal.

I know some of you have argued, and DTG is assuring, that product A still has a useful life for some time. I suspect others view it differently. For those that see product B as the real "new version" of product A, this arrangement makes even less sense.

And just to preempt Buzz's inevitable "If you want it, buy it, and if you don't, don't," let me point out that this is a forum, where we gather to talk about things related to DTG and their sim, including their promotions and marketing practices.

Well ok, let's see: Regarding this limited appeal and the routes on sale, there are 5 routes in the pioneer edition and it will be 30 pounds. That's 6 pound per route. I haven't checked, but let's say each route seperate is the full 30 pounds. You get 75% off for each you don't have. That's 7.5 pounds per route. I don't think any sale comes close to that. Even when TS2017 dies a sudden death in february, it would have been about 5 pounds per month, and in the last 4 weeks after I started playing TS I've spent way more than that. I also don't think routes will come as fast as with TS at first, so I recon there's at least 5-6 more months on TS to prevent me from getting bored.

Personally, I'm not interested in the TGV, but 30 pounds is not something I lose any sleep over. And well, if no one would depart from usual practice we'd all still be living in caves *!rolleyes!*

I will say something new. This has been discussed as nauseum on a variety of subjects and we are all entitled to a opinion. I can almost predict what each person is going to say after all this time. So enjoy and have at it.

The curiosity factor will be a big influence. I am not a big BR fan. 90% of my purchased DLC are US railroads. Buying a combo pack to get the teaser for a few weeks is an issue for me.. I wish that I had more options for content. More than likely I will purchase what it takes to get the beta then TSW when released, hopefully at a discount for having the beta version. Sigh........ *!rolleyes!*

I've watched the entire Future of Train Simulator video once and reviewed the part that deals with the TSW beta twice. Whew!

I've seen the TS 2017 Pioneers Edition referred to as "time limited" -- a statement that to me means that it will be on sale for a limited time only.
Nowhere do I recall seeing a time limit on possession of the TSW beta. There's a statement that access to the beta will begin in December, but no statement about that access ending, again, that I have seen.
Will someone who has seen that restriction please copy it for me in reply to this post? Why? Don't I believe you folks? Let me just say that I'm from the "Show Me" state.

!!howdy!!

Look in the fine print of that "chart" they release a few days ago.

That is rather interesting. Assuming it's a D/L of some kind how do you take it back? Unless it's just something out there in cyberspace that you get to play but not alter........We shall see.

For several reasons, including an initial lack of content, I think that this is unlikely to be the outcome. Bells and whistles only sell for a short while *!!wink!!* Perhaps a bad choice of words on your part ? :D

The same that all Steam Betas are done, they simply revoke permissions, when you log it's removed. If you remember, Styxx had all use of his beta content revoked when he left the TS beta program *!!wink!!*

All you would have to do is take it off line. Not that I would ever think of doing that. *!twisted!*

This is if it can be taken off line. Because of the multi-player that every user was supposedly demanding, it may have to be permanently on-line, whether using the multi-player component of not. Only those that know now know...

Now, can somebody please tell me about Tom's blind men and their elephant *!lol!*

!*cheers*!
