Discovered this today:

Simply put, buy it, install it, and boom all your silent cars now make noises as they roll, stop, start, etc. Even does random flats and rail joints. (sorry, no Julianne Fries)

Sounds good. Somewhat higher pitched and quieter then the rumbling that some DLC does, but a real god send if, like me, you find those silent cars deafening.

WORTH EVERY PENNY!

Are you familiar with Krellnut wagon sounds?

I think the AP sound pack is for UK rolling stock.

Evidently the AP pack does mostly UK stock, but also stock from the US Loco and Asset pack, Horsehoe Curve, and a few other random US DLC.

Krellnut? No. Are they the sounds used for the rolling stock in the "greatnorthern" and "rwa" folders?

I believe (though I may be wrong) that the Krellnut sounds were integrated into the standard libraries in TS2016 so they must be in there somewhere. I think they were patched into the rolling stock for Sherman Hill and NSCD.

If this is so then it would be cool to change the Krellnut sound patches to point to the included versions to ensure the soundset isn't loaded twice (ie once for patching old content, and by default for new.)

No they are not. That is a sound set from Great Northerner. Krellnut sound set is a set of freeware that was used extensively by many of us for US wagons. These were recorded over a long period of time and put together as a "as real as it gets" sounds for US trains. The sounds in the 'new' Sherman Hill and NSCD were done by Walter and edited by DTG so they are not the same. Krellnut sounds can be varied by volume and amount of defect wheels to suit one's own personal tastes. Over a period of time most US wagons are covered so these sounds can be used from one source. They greatly enhance the immersive experience for all who use them which is why there have been thousands of downloads of his marvelous effort.

Krellnut sounds are awesome too! And I would rate them from most to least intense as

Greatnorthern
Krellnut
Armstrong payware

Part of greatnorthern's intensity comes from it "popping" into the sound scape abruptly when a train is passing or you move the external camera around.

The only way to get them is to get one of Great Northern's rolling stock packs. They are not available as a stand alone.
