I haven't fiddled with T:ANE much, but am now starting the download of the route UMR 2016 for T:ANE. I had it in an earlier version for Trainz 2009 and enjoyed it.

I have yet to see any screenshots of any T:ANE routes that look much or at all better than the older versions of Trainz.

What would any of you recommend for a good T:ANE switching route? I will gradually go through the list that Bob posted some time ago, but thought to ask about switching routes specifically.

Progressive Rails is a small switching route

All of Phil Skene's routes are switching routes, he is in to switching more than our OldProf is ;)

When you make your own session, look under the menu for Environment. If things are too bright you can adjust them for the session. You will see a small clock in the middle of the screen with small green balls on it. Those are different times of the day, so you can adjust each of them and even add your own time slots. The first thing I usually do is get rid of the fog. Then adjust the coloring down. It is always too bright. Yellows scream at you, white dissolves everything else on them. If you play a bit you can make them all look nice.

If you add the Extrainz rule to the session the industries will be shown.

The CarTagger rule allows industries that are configured to be assigned to cars.

All the msgsapper routes have lots of industries to switch.

That is his <kuid2:439337:100521:7> New England Coastal 2

Replacing assets with the newer assets Trainz runs and looks pretty good:

Always wish Railworks/TS20xx had all the Trainz functionality.

Thanks forthe tips.

I've noticed that Download Station starts off at anywhere from 30 to 160+ kb/secs, but then ratchets down to 9.60. If I quit it, then restart, it goes back up.

I haven't bought a ticket, just using the default download capability.

I get the first class ticket (FCT) to dl at 1.2 MB/s. No FCT also has a cap. I wait for sale and get a year FCT for $13, it is worth it. I believe you can purchase them for a month?

Yeah, you can buy them by the month, year, or "lifetime"

N3V no longer sells the "lifetime" FCT's.

Forgot about the ultimate Philskene route:

<kuid2:69871:2136:1> IndustRail TS12

Think it has every Trainz industry that is available:

Image

Yeah, a working Huelett Ore Loader.

Industrail is too large for Extrainz but these rules work, as well as Cartagger:

<kuid2:57145:80101:2> Display Industry Status
<kuid2:57145:80104:1> Display Train List

It also has Portals that can be used to load/unload trains.

Phil posted a link in the N3V forums for a version called Industrail TS2012 to Tane. He updated it a bit.

Most of the screenshots from TANE are truly awful, just over at Steam looking at them. What are these people thinking?

Random shot from EK3 an old 2010 route with new trees, track and the lighting just reset in environment.

N3V and the average Trainzer has an odd way of looking at the world. Many users complained about the initial settings in Environment being dreadful.

Oh well enough about Trainz

I bought a one-month ticket, then when going to activate I saw that I already had a 2 day ticket, from my initial purchase of TANE a year or so ago. Oh well, it took me 4 days to download the UMR route without a ticket, and now with that first class ticket I got many more from those suggested in this thread.

Auran must have withdrawn many assets from earlier versions, as I no longer see a plenitude of narrow gauge locos and rolling stock. Used to be loads of it. I got the most recent 3ft gauge locos, from 2015, but there are no rolling stock that I can find. I was enamoured with the idea of NG because of the Yuan Gulch NG for TANE route which looks very good.

There is all kinds of NG. Phil Skene made several NG Routes. When you have content manager open. Right click on the title columns and add another column called Author. Click it to sort by Author and scroll down to Phil's routes.

T:ANE runs so much better than it did a year ago.

Here's one of my screenshots. Not bad imho.
