However, I am deeply disappointed with the career scenarios that came with the route so many years ago. After countless efforts, I have never been able to complete any of the career scenarios involving the EMD GP9 within the allotted time. I hug the speed limits within 0.9 MPH but it is impossible to complete the scenarios and come out with any points. The best I can achieve is Green Check Marks. !*hp*!

The scenarios for the EMD SD40T-2 (scenarios 3a and 3b) are the same. No chance in the world of getting any points at all. 3b doesn't even register as completed! And since it won't register even a green check mark, I cannot obtain the achievement of completing all six scenarios that came with the route. The only scenario for the SD40T-2 that actually works is number 4, "Cold Play CS."

Collecting achievements is one of the things that appeal to me about career scenarios. Much to my chagrin, there is no way to obtain the Gold Star and the achievements related to the above scenarios. Given my extreme enthusiasm for the career scenarios, I feel ripped off when one or more of them don't work properly. I've spent 3600 hours and many hundreds of dollars on this simulation since it came out. I would expect no less than what the route claims to offer.

There are other routes and scenarios, or DLC scenario packs, that I have purchased with anomalies and faults which I will address in other posts. My hope is that someone at DTG (or the appropriate author) will repair these scenarios so we all can get our monies worth out of the route add-on we paid for.

After all, these add-ons aren't cheap!!! !!jabber!! ...even if they are on sale.

I 100% agree with this review of the Donner Pass Route. I highly recommend that this review be shared on Steam and with DTG Support. Hopefully with enough complaints they will just fix the issues. (although don't hold your breathe) *!rolleyes!*

And I am a certain as the sun will come up tomorrow that it will stay that way. Release date Dec.21,2012. Why anyone pays that much for a route that old escapes me. It certainly has been on major sales several times. If anyone bothered to read the reviews people have been complaining about the career scenarios for years and years. I urge people to read the reviews before purchasing stuff and then make a informed decision about what's good and what you won't like.

Actual release date was November 2011, around Thanksgiving. December 2012 was when they released a significantly upgraded version, which was basically a redo of the entire route with new vegetation and scenery assets, terrain textures, and realigned trackwork. They didn't really touch the scenarios, but nonetheless the upgrade remains one of Dovetail's greatest feats IMO... route has looked fantastic ever since.

For those who are curious, here's what Donner looked like in its original state. Be thankful they bothered to make such an improvement!

It was precisely because of Nick's video that they fixed it.
