A Railworks Convention

I wonder if it might be possible to hold a Railworks convention at some point in time. Over the years, I have attended several NMRA and Historical Soceity conventions and it was nice to meet new friends with the same interests.

We would be very supportive of such a thing Harry.

Why not expand it and make it a Train Simulation convention? It could include RW, MSTS, Trainz, and Open Rails.

With the animosity that Trainz people seem to have towards RW, would such a convention come to fisticuffs?

There were a few of us MSTSers that did just that. It was great. We always had a great time.
We visited railroad museums and took a few excursion rides.

Here's some nostalgia of those days gone by. http://hawkdawg.com/MSTS/grp.htm

I still get together with a couple of the guys for lunch every once in a while.

I'm sure they'll behave better in public than on the computer.....hopefully.

Fantastic idea, but where? We seem to be a global community. The rail museum out here at the Pomona Fairplex would be great for me, but quite a drive for a lot of you others. Guess we just have to meet here for now, which I don't mind at all. I've got a nice bunch of friends here. !!*ok*!! !*salute*!

Indiana. Or Louisville, KY. Both good RR places to be. They are central; a little bit toward the eastern half of the U.S. but there are more people in the east and westerners are used to traveling longer distances, *!lol!* .

I think it's a great idea. Would be pretty fun. Get a conference room or whatever and run some trains on a huge screen or something awesome. IF this ever happened, location wise I'd have to say Chicago. The railhub of railhubs, and though being a Wisconsinite, I sometimes despise the place, it makes sense. It is right smack dab in the middle more or less and there's plenty going on railroad wise. I think KCS is the only Class 1 that doesn't have trackage in and/or around the city. Plenty to do, in a decent location for most people to get to. Amtrak could even getcha there !!*ok*!! . But that's just my opinion on a subject that would be very difficult to actually organize/execute.

If we're gonna make this happen, we need to meet somewhere we can travel to by Amtrak. Chicago sounds good to me.

Plan it for summer & a trip to the RR Museum @ Union, Illinois can be incorporated:
