Really excited. . .

Well, I'm sitting here less than two days from the much-anticipated release of RW3. My wish list is great and I hope there are no last minute glitches. Although I an still a newbie to the whole rail simulation gaming scene, I love this more than any of you can possibly imagine! I gave up a huge N Scale layout in order to move my business to my home in these wonderful economic times we've been enjoying. Well, my RailWorks "layout" far exceeds what I had, has more realism, and has cost me a mere fraction of what I had invested in rolling stock, locomotives, scenery and time. I have been able to "build" more, run more trains, and design more than ever before. Now if I could just get more Kansas City Southern stuff, for free or pay, I'd be happier than a pig in a pool of slop!

Hi Dru,

Likewise, i had model railroads for 40 odd years and moved to my present address that has no room for a layout but i did used MSTS but this Railworks2 has given me a new interest again in railroads and like you say looking at the price now of models thay seem to have gone through the roof!

If you have not already have a look at this site for repaints of KCS for the default SD40-2 in Railworks, it is certainly worth registering on there,

Cheers,

Roger.

As we are on the eve of destruction... Err... Umm... a new simulator, its time for a little reflection on a year with Railworks 2.

The Good: RSC still in business, SD70's, SW1500, GP9, P42, Portland Terminal, Steam DLC discounts, proliferation of third-party scenery assets and reskins, the NEC, bulkhead flatcars, heightened interest in the Simulator, the announcement of Railworks 3.

The Bad: The passing of Pete Bauer, Blueprint Editor Fubar, 3DCanvas is 3DCrafter, no Streamlines, no Maple Leaf Tracks, no free locomotive assets.

The Ugly: Vendors threatening lawsuits over open criticism of their products,
Allen Bradley is still in charge of RSC e-mail support, MSTS is still around for gawds-sakes!

Things are going great, and they just keep getting better! I'm doin'alright, pulling steep grades, the future's so bright, i gotta wear shades!

You appear to have summed things up very nicely - and I'd say, accurately.

I'll add no Diesels West and Streamlines to the bad. As I said in another post. Hopefully they will change their minds. Would buy any of their DLC's in a second.

Threatening lawsuits over criticism of your products?

Whichever designer this is does not deserve to run a business. People have a right to present their opinion (for or against) any product...

Easy there, Marksman. That happened elsewhere, but I listed it because it was part of the RW "culture" this year. Lets be positive going forward and not get the thread locked. *!lol!*
