Package manager empty

Unread postby styckx » Wed Aug 17, 2011 1:42 pm

Never had this happen before. My list of packages is empty now in the package manager.. Any quick fixes? Really don't want to verify files.. But will if I must.

I've had this happen a few times now, but it always came back after closing RW down and relaunching it.

That doesn't work.. Verified cache.. Still does it.. Tried clicking "refresh" and results in an .NET 2.0 error..

And as I feared, my hard drive is pretty much dead. :( Only my second failure ever.

You ain't kidding. I downloaded a movie off Zune and the video was corrupt (wouldn't play between certain time frames), so I rebooted and chkdsk auto ran again. More indexing errors and a bad sector this time. Let it fix those. Computer idled all night fine. Rebooted this morning to see how she is doing and it hung on the Windows loading screen for 5 minutes before chkdsk ran again. I just pulled the plug at that point. I know it is on its final leg.

You ain't kiddin there, Tori. Reason why I have an external drive I do a weekly backup to. Drives are cheap. Data isn't.

Sty, you can probably install a new drive, change boot order to the new drive, then reinstall Windows (presuming you still have the disk somewhere) Keep the old drive installed. As long as it's running Explorer can still pull files and data off it.

Only copy! - Don't wait, get another backup going ASAP.

Not only do you currently run the risk of losing it all (data, then mind), you also run the risk of messing up what's left if you make an error.

At least the drive is under Warranty. Anyone ever do a RMA through WD? Seems I don't even need an original receipt or proof of purchase.. They just want a readable serial number.

Date of Manufacture: 03.2009

That really lasted long.. **!!bang!!**
