Just curious, what happened to this? Would this have been comparable to Trainz, TS, or TSW?

I can't find anything about this anywhere. Most likely faded into the sunset.

I used to have their site bookmarked. But saw no progress after a few years. Was to use the Unreal graphics engine,if I remember correctly. Seemed to be slated somewhere between TS and TSW,based on appearance. With the focus on GAMES,I do not see anyone designing a new train simulator.

Yeah, I used to check on their (back then) obviously defunct website for way too long, too. *!rolleyes!*

I beg to differ on your last statement though. In fact, I look at it rather differently and think that train simulation/gaming is in a good place these days. There certainly isn't a lack of choice. DTG keep doing their thing with RW and TSW, there's a new version of Trainz every year (?), and there are many promising and intriguing new titles in development like Derail Valley, SimRail, Railroads Online (if they can sort out their internal issues) or Train Life. Just to name the ones that I'm keeping an eye on, with Derail Valley being my absolute favorite on that list as it offers an in my opinion perfect blend of train handling/operations and "gamey" features.

The one thing that I really lament though is that most younger titles are missing a good world- and gameplay editor (one that deserves the name).

Cheers,
Michael

Good points,Michael. I am always hopeful that the perfect simulator will come onto the scene. This one is still as close as it gets. I have no need to purchase TSW,without the ability to build a route. Trainz (my 9 year previous favorite),will never have a simple DEM importation device built in. I love the available content, still. I have even purchased Trainz payware locomotives, just to support the creators. I am not the typical train simulator user,I will admit. I have purchased many of the US Routes for this platform. Spent maybe 1 hour running on each of them. 99 percent of my time is devoted to building my prototype Ohio route system. And I am constantly tempted to start a new one. I do check in with Open Rails to view their updates. When they get a dedicated editor,I may install it. Crossties really seemed like it could have been the simulator I was looking for. Meanwhile, back to route building........
