AMTRAK drivable P42DC Genesis not available anymore ?

Unread postby Cardinal51 » Sun Oct 25, 2020 4:05 pm

In the past a drivable P42DC Genesis was available. When TS2014 arrived there were some issues and it was removed from the store. But people still having the old railworks assets could keep using it.

I checked the store and could not find it.

Is there still a way to get a drivable P42DC with the above livery ? Perhaps it is included in one of the routes ?

Thanks Zek,

The description seems to indicate that the livery shown in my first post is not drivable but only for AI trains.

Perhaps some one who owns the add-on can confirm.

bruh
It was fully replaced by it, it is not AI only. Where are you even pulling that information from?

Must have read some old info somewhere else. Not sure what I have been reading yesterday.

You must be correct BigBoy. I re-read the whole thing and PhaseV livery is clearly listed.

I also highly recommend downloading this enhancement pack myself and the TruRail boys put together, but what can I say, I'm biased. *!lol!*

Thanks Zek

Looks like it adds a lot of stuff.

Is there a bit more explanation on what the various enhancements in the base package do ? I read the page but not sure about what some of the changes incorporate.

Redone 4K textures with proper branding

As you can read below the bottleneck of my system is my graphics card. Do you expect this 4K stuff to cause any issues ?

Simply put: new sounds, new textures, new lights, corrected physics, new horn, new plow, a pepsi can in the cab, and some other various changes.

Potentially. Looking at your specs, (if possible) overclock your CPU to gain some better frames, as 1.80GHz is a bit on the low end. Turning down your scenery a little bit can also help.

Thanks Zek

Overclocking the I7 CPU ? I thought the bottleneck was my GPU :-)

I am not willing to overclock my notebook, or lower the in-game settings, too afraid to mess up a good running laptop and balanced TS2021. So I will not install the pack. Which is too bad , because I was already looking forward to upgrades like for instance radio chatter.

Seems a bit crazy and over the top to buy a new system in order to run a freeware add-on for an engine for which almost no routes exist !!howdy!!

My system is only 8 months old. And running TS gives me lots of fun. !!*ok*!! Of course it can always be better and if possible I would buy a new system every 6 months. But dang, I am in the unfortunately situation that I can only spent every dollar once. *!sad!*

Also no good graphics cards are available for my size notebook/laptop and I am not yet willing to go for a larger screen size.

Technically you are correct since all laptops play games.... but colloquially, a gaming laptop is simply a laptop with a certain level of gaming GPU performance for it's particular generation of chips. That not only includes the GPU's raw floating point performance, but also bus bandwidth, VRAM size and graphics memory speed.

Nvidia currently considers any GPU card with a suffix of -50 or higher a gaming GPU or has a GTX/RTX prefix. Cards with a suffix of -40 or lower and a prefix of MX (and also the former GT prefix cards) are not considered gaming class GPUs by Nvidia, even though they still brag about their gaming graphics performance in comparison to other integrated GPUs of it's class... at lower graphics settings in-game of course. *!greengrin!*
