RSBinTool

Unread postby mindenjohn » Thu Sep 03, 2020 11:08 am

For some reason I lost RSBinTool from my computer. I re-downloaded it but I am having terrible trouble trying to install it (RSBinTool (downloaded from this site)) as my anti virus treats it as malware. I have downloaded, disconnected from the internet, shut down the AV software and it still won't install. I have uninstalled the AV software and installed two different versions to no avail. I have been bashing my head against this wall for about 3 weeks on and off and I'm pretty fed up with it.

Please, is there an alternative to RSBinTool?

Thanks Buzz. I’ve got it. The AV is much more complex and was only partially off, sometimes these things are too damned clever.

John
Another trick is to install an app via Windows SAFE mode that can work sometimes.

John,

Sorry if I'm late to the game but I remember a similar issue with RSBinTool and I use McAfee's Anti-Virus software. What finally worked for me was installing it on a different drive than the primary drive. I also had to totally uninstall McAfee first. Then install RSBinTool on my D: drive. Then reinstall McAfee. I then setup an exception in McAfee for the folder that RSBinTool was located in. Haven't had a problem since and that was over a year ago.

Just FYI mine is installed in my downloads folder and my guardians don't seem to mind it there at all.

That’s cunning. When I fire up again I’ll give that a try. Thanks to all for some useful ideas.
