Digging down thru the files, where would one find the flange squeal for the gp30? Id like to remove it completely or tone down if possible

If you are talking about the DTM one it's in the GP30 audio files. Down toward the bottom.

Yes the audio is for all of them. It's down near the bottom of the sounds. I didn't look to see about turning it down. Put a .XX after the two sounds and they should go away I think.

I unticked read only, changed and applied, then back to read only

another Q tho, does the .xx goes at the end or I replace the .dav w the .xx?

I'm not certain what you are referring to by the change to untick read only and then changing it back. You want to take the R_FL_FlangeFast02.dav and change it to R_FL_FlangeFast02.dav.xx. That will disable it. You want to do this outside of the .ap folder so if you do a verify or a reload it will not change back. Same with the other file. I don't have it open right now but I think it is the same only slow.

on occasion you've got to change the properties of a file from "read only" , from my limited TS file knowledge.
i'll go back and change it again to read only - first go round didn't produce results

and yeah I unpacked the ap. my files currently read

R_FL_FlangeFast02.dav.xx
R_FL_FlangeSlow.dav.xx

but I tested a run of the mill scenario for the gp30 on Sherman hill no dice **!!bang!!**

If you unpacked al the .ap now it is showing these two files to just be missing so it's reading the ones in the .ap. To get it to stop you will either need to delete those two files inside the .ap or if you unpacked the whole thing just put the .xx after the .ap.

Ok... so i basically dragged all of the files for it out of 7zip into my common rw folder but its still reading the packed stuff?
So go in and delete the packed flange files completely so it just reads the unpacked in my common rw folder

Sounds like a plan. !!howdy!!

finally got to crack back at it Buzz, they eventually disappeared in my unpacked, went in the packed and there they still appeared - I then promptly !!bang!! 'd them
many thanks *!!thnx!!*

so it worked, finally no more ear-drum-murdering "scREEeeERREEEEeeeeEE" *!greengrin!*

and for the record incase you or anyone else is wondering I *did* have to go into the actual B&O folder and do the same as with the UP GP30 - removing the slow/fast flanges. I'm assuming Chessie'd require the deletion as well

For Buzz' Alco FA1 GN I have changed the proxy resulting in much better flange sounds. The problem with the original are the wrong curves, especially the curve for slower speeds. Please ask Buzz for my mod as I am i holiday now and cannot send them to you now.
