Smaller control panel.

How does one get the control panel smaller on the screen?
It seems half the size in some video's and screen shots
I try to enjoy RW without it most of the time, as I'd rather see the screen.
Thanks

If this was originally posted on my E-G video thread. I can say I have no idea if my HUD is smaller then what is default. Might have been the way I recorded it (1280x720) that makes it look smaller (?).

Might as well ask this: Is there any replacement HUD's floating around? Have to say, the "toy-like" "plastic" look of the default is not my favorite.

That did it. Thanks for the help.
I especially enjoy the choice of music with your fine video's.

That would be perfect! Gets rid of the controls but leaves the speed, time, and track line intact. Thank you! !!*ok*!!

Also nice web-page. Gives this railfan who is dumbfounded by UK trains an idea for DLC purchasing. !*salute*!

I will upload it tomorrow and post here when it is done as it is dark o'clock over here now. I use it with my Raildriver and it helps a lot. I may need to MOD the new one too when it comes out, time will tell.

I dunno, I just don't like that new HUD. I hit F4, then F3 (driver's guide) then F5 twice. !!*ok*!!

I would like the HUD better if it showed the detail of the F5 panel. A truly beautiful HUD would show some realistic simulated round gauges that accurately displayed the brake pressure readings and steam engine readings.

Marley, I like your modds, especially the 75% transparent. I hope you can eventually get rid of the train bar across the bottom; it's too much information (like the F3 panel... which I still use sometimes *!embar*! )

Smaller panel. Try setting the monitor arrangement to 2x1. This will shrink the F3 for sure, forget off the top of my head if it does the same for F4

I was wondering about this from a different direction. The German ICE has a cruise-control type of thing (AFT) - you can just set the speed, and it adjusts the throttle/brake as required to maintain that speed. But there is nothing on the HUD that lets you really set the thing. You have to use the keyboard or use the mouse on the AFT control to adjust the thing. The drivers guide tells you to not even use the HUD (when the AFT kicks in, you see the brake/throttle in the HUD rapidly toggling back and forth from 0 to 100%).

If you turn off the AFT, you drive it like any other train. So you cannot just change the meaning of the controls for the HUD.

Yes! My thoughts exactly. Also the round speed indicator gauge (with a red mark indicating the current max speed).

Here's a screenshot from Silent Hunter IV. The round gauges at bottom right hold all important information on your sub heading, depth, speed, etc.

Yep.. Setting your arrangement to 2x1 does work on F4. I thought so but wanted to get home to double check. Your menus etc will be oddly proportioned and off center but in game it's fine except for some cropped info. :)
