I haven't played with my FSX for ages, however, I don't know how many of you are aware of one of the most excellent websites to offer American content for free as BlueSkyScenery. I installed nearly all of their content, many, many, GB's of data that covered the ground textures of several States particularly the West of the country, such as California, Washington, Oregon and down to Utah, Nevada, Colorado and Arizona, etc. I'll put the URL up for you to have a look at, I can thoroughly recommend the site, I even donated a bit of money to them a few years ago in recognition of the amount of freely available content they have, it's incredible, and certainly worth a look at. For those with good graphics cards it'll be right up your street, BUT, there are a lot of 'squares' to download for each area, so, ensure you have a lot of storage space available if you get carried away downloading everything..... !*roll-laugh*!

This guy is a very nice guy and his product is good, if varied, for what it is. Some like photo scenery and others don't. It looks much nicer if the kind of flying you like is commercial airlines. From 30,000 ft, it is quite convincing. For VFR low and slow flyers like myself it is less so, if only because it is of course two-dimensional and flat. It is a photograph stretched over mesh, with no autogen scenery on top. That's why his southwest areas look better. Fewer trees there anyway. Colors can sometimes be weird. But the price is right! And it is certainly different from the default and strange desert textures of FSX, which are particularly unconvincing in the western US.

Try his northern Arizona and Grand Canyon scenery if you are so inclined. That's some of the best of it.
