AI Traffic and terrain mesh

Unread postby Shaa » Fri Feb 13, 2015 8:46 am

I've been looking at different AI addons. Is it actually worth paying for something like Ultimate Traffic or does the free World of AI do a good job? I assume World of AI should work fine despite the volume of downloads needed to complete it.

Also I'm started getting some terrain meshes from FSGenesis (used them on FS9) do you need intermediary meshes for FSX like you did for FS9 to reduce tearing when flying higher or just scale back the detail level if flying high?

I use MyTraffic and FSGenesis with no problems or intermediaries. The in game AI is OK but they did not make AI models, they used actual planes, so 20 747s will chew up your FPS. MyTraffic has models slimmed down so you can use a lot of them and they are real world liveries not the fiction ones that come with FSX.

I use the older FSGenesis stuff, I have not purchased the NEXT sets he has for offer now.

!*don-know!*

How's about letting the rest of us in on what you're discussing? To me at least, "AI traffic" refers only to program-controlled (more or less) trains running at the same time as the player-driven one.

!!jabber!!

Essentially its the same thing for FSX as trains. the AI populates the airports and uses actual flightplans to fly between their real life stops. It definitely adds to the realism when using "REAL" airlines instead of the fictional ones supplied by default.

I did see mytraffic listed elsewhere but haven't looked at it yet. I downloaded some of the World of AI packages and will give that a try later and let you know how it works. They also appear to slim down the aircraft as well.
