Advanced High Definition Locos in TS2015

I was accepted into this forum, so thank you very much for allowing me to share...
I have been a Trainsimmer on and off for years.. Started when I was a kid with an H/O set, then onto Trainz and then Railworks...
Picked up one of the first Railworks years ago on Steam and had purchased quite a bit of DLC... Took a break for a while.. And just recently logged back into Steam and noticed they had given me TS2015.. So I got back into it.
Just started purchasing some of the latest routes, locos and other stuff and noticed that there is a small handful of new Locos (Including the ones in the TS2015 Academy) that are much more advanced and have a far better train brake simulation..
These locos, such as the academy SD70, the NS ES44AS, the NS Dash8.. etc etc, basically, just poo pooed all over every other Loco that I have spent my money on... Once I have driven the new locos with the advanced braking system, why go back?
So here's my question(s)...
1. What do I do with all my other nice Locos, and liveries?
2. Is it possible to upgrade the older Engines to have the same Advanced brakes?
3. Would be amazing if someone started painting some new liveries for these new TS2015 machines...
Comments, critics???
Thanks
JB

First off welcome to the forum.
As far as physics please explore our library. there is a huge number of physics upgrades there which will greatly add to your enjoyment plus there are many repaints there also for new and old.

Also I'll point towards 3rd party providers (such as
http://vrailcreations.net/) that are putting out some incredibly detailed models.

Thanks buzz!!
Have you tried the new engines that have the HD brakes yet? I have done a few experiments with em, by lining up different length consists and attaching these new engines to them and testing the time it takes for the BPP to equalize.. The longer the train, the longer it takes to bail and pressurize the system.. Pretty cool if you ask me..
Now I have seen the physics updates, but honestly haven't installed them yet.. They are static updates, right? Meaning that the performance curves are fixed, not variable based on brake system length..
Plus the new engines have correct brake gauge indications... Main res will recharge Brake Pipe, equalizing res can be used to instantly set initial brake levels, Brake pipe will equalize to equalizing res and main res will take a long time to re pressurize based on train length... Furthermore.. you can modify the flow rate to your taste by cntrl+Shft 1/2 in realtime...
Personally I think this is a major step foreword and I am wondering how one would get the older locos up to this level of realism...
Thanks for the reply..

I just took a look at the site you recommended and have to say that I'm puzzled by the absence of any kind of description as to what makes these engine models so special. The word "advanced" alone doesn't impress me in the least. For now at least, this is filed in my "pig in a poke" drawer.

I believe they have a more realistic optional manual startup proceedure. That is one thing that comes to mind that justifies calling them "advanced"

What is the new braking system?

You know, the locos on the CP route, NYNH, Penn Coal, Miami.

My answer: a pain in the who-haa.

That start-up system looks a lot like some available with DLC engines, only longer. I suppose that spending three minutes starting a loco attracts some folks, but building it into a standard scenario is a pain, especially since no two players will take the same amount of time to complete it, even if on-screen instructions are included. That makes already difficult AI timing nearly impossible.
I did enjoy the first couple of minutes of the test run video, but when the disembodied driver opened the front cab door he should have tossed his cigarette butt out before closing up again. Now, that would be simulation at its finest!

I own none of these.
@ OldProf. I hope you are not speaking of the VRC GP40. We included a shortcut key combo to do all the startup work incase you didn't want to manually start the engine. This can be controlled from the scenario LUA as well.

I specifically said the manual start was optional

So on to my original question :)
Does anyone know if it's possible to update older Locos with the new DTG brakes HD brake system?
Also, does anyone know which of the new Locos available as DLC have the new brake system? Unfortunately, the descriptions don't mention it.
The Locos that I have that also have the upgraded brakes are...
I am assuming that all the Locos with a release date of mid 2014 on would have the HD brakes..
The new NS Dash 8
The engines that come with penn coal
The new CSX DS80
and the new engines that come with TS2015..

If you want to look further a field than US Locos, try some of the German locos from here
http://www.virtual-railroads.de particularly the Expert Line locos etc.
