Surfliner changes? Also alerter question

Hello everyone, I hope you all had a great Thanksgiving. I sure did and I really enjoyed the Steam sale, a bit too much even !*roll-laugh*!

The Surfliner route, I am an Orange County resident and my closest station is Santa Ana. I have been on the line multiple times, and have noticed a few things. Perhaps you guys can shed some light and or tell me if some of these things have already been addressed.

The actual line has more (X) grade crossing signs than the standard (W) which is in some parts, can this be changed?

I haven't noticed an CP Location signs, ie CP Irvine, or CP Basta. Are the Milepost signs even present my memory evades me but I am sure that the CP signs are not present. Those little details add immense realism so that is why I ask. Some (DIB) Delay in Block signs are missing as well, Santa Ana has one going South.

Lastly, I have asked this before but never really got a solid answer...

Can the Alerters in the Cabs of the Surf Phi's, the SCAX F59's, and Coaster Phi's be configured to actually play an audio file? I have attempted in the appropriate .bins and replaced the Alerter.dav to no avail. I know the alerters do work correctly on the NEC New York - New Haven route, as well as the NEC.

Thanks for the help, guys I look forward to your responses.

The 'X' whistle posts would have to manually swapped with their 'W' counterparts in the route editor, which would require you to create or use a new model. Same goes for the CP signs. If none exists, then they would have to be created.

As for the audio, I'll leave that for someone more familiar with creating sound files and scripting.

Do the 'X' signs already exist in the RS file library or anywhere else I wonder? I don't have high hopes for the CP signs being readily available and modelling is something I have never ventured in but if all other avenues come up empty then i will take a look at what it requires.

Donner Pass has the 'X' whistle posts.

Yes and some other routes like Marias have the "W" whistle posts. They can be hard to find in the editor though, they aren't always in a logical place like "Clutter" or "Signalling".

So is it safe to assume that most people here run when in Pull mode, with F3 HUD displayed at all times? It seems like this is the only possible way to operate the train without suffering a Penalty brake application with the Alerter going unnoticed?
