Graphics Problem!

Unread postby RailFan0690 » Fri Sep 26, 2014 11:19 am

Hello RWA
Ever since I updated to TS2015 my game's never been the same. I have to turn off dynamic lighting and clouds, and keep all my settings on low because my laptop can't handle anything above low and i always used these settings on TS2014 and never had a problem. My game ran smooth and i had no complaints.
But now that i updated to 2015 some of my locomotives look dark and some come with an annoying shadow and some don't. and that also goes for the passenger coaches as well. Here's what I'm stuck with...

Is there any way to solve this issue?? **!!bang!!** *!mad!*

Turn the shadows off in the graphics setting.

I already did, but it still shows me the shadows when I play the game.

The only way it works is if I enable the Dynamic Lighting.
....but i have to run my game in a windowed screen with 800x600 resolution... !*hp*!

I usually have my shadows turned off in TSX-OFF mode because of shadows that can annoyingly pop in and out of existence at times for no good reason at all. The shadows left are obviously some kind of baked shadow that not all the cars have (hence the F40ph and the car behind it in your screen shots).

I've seen this increase in TS2015 under Dynamic Lighting off. I had a train pulling west out of Barstow with track side camera view and a lot of the cars were almost black on the shadow side as they passed me.

Maybe one of the model builders here can shed some light on the issue and perhaps explain it. It is annoying.

The Shadow slider only controls dynamic shadows which were introduced when TS2013 came about and the TSX system was bolted on.

The shadows you see with DTX turned off are the stencil shadows, a remnant of RW2. Most rolling stock developed after RW2 doesn't have the shadow stencil anymore and solely relies on the TS2013,14,15 dynamic shadow.

Let's keep in mind that RSC/DTG has never stated that this simulator can or should be run on a laptop of any kind. !DUH!

And yet it runs pretty darn good on MY laptop. !!*ok*!! We're not talking desktop numbers mind you, but definitely playable and enjoyable. Depends on the route and scenery density. Of course TSX-OFF helps for higher frame rates. On the most demanding sections of the most demanding routes I average 30-35fps with all sliders on max. That same exact situation with sliders maxed averages 14-23fps with TSX-ON. Of course on less demanding routes those numbers are higher.

With all the sliders set to their lowest settings and TSX-OFF I can get between 90-110fps on Cajon Pass or Castle Rock. Not too bad for a $600 laptop. *!greengrin!*
